Billy.
Dont let it put you off, Ive got a little corsa! Hasn't floated off yet!No seriously come in from the Harpenden road end and the ford is about 3 inches deep No problem even when we've had a bit of rain down Cheers Roly You'll find that since they've redone the bridge and tightened up the mouth of the river, it's gone up a bit. It covers the sidesteps on my landy, so that's a bit more than 3"
Beardo
that reminds me of a very cold night in Gary's Fronty when we were travelling sideways and backwards down the hill by the ford near Broomhills.

I remember it well mate. Nothing short of a dedicated snow / ice tyre setup would have stopped her! Still cant believe we missed that wall Things we do in pursuit of ginger eh... I think your'e probably coming in from the opposite direction i.e proper 4x4 brave boy route. Not for me that way I'd get wet feet! I'll let you know as I'm there later today. mick miller
I'm Herts based but mostly shoot rifles rather than clays. I find clay shooting fun but a bit pointless. No offence intended to clay shots so please don't flame me! If the shotgun comes out its usually for a bit of wildfowling or rough shooting. Billy.
Billy was at the shoot today but didn't see a Landy I actually got caught up with something today. I've never been to the clay ground, but I can hear it when I'm pigeon shooting on my permission (you keep the birds moving for me ) Maybe another day
Beardo
ouch - had a quick shoot at A1 today to test my new fitted stock. £29 for 100 birds! On the plus side i shot a damn site better than i've ever shot before. One that i couldn't hit (and nor could NSS was a right to left looper from the tower - it kinda drops down like a missile)

When I had mine fitted it really made a big difference, it is important to have a gun that fits, and as we know when we buy a gun, new or second hand, they are made one "gun fits all". Having it a gun fitted is money well spent. It is expensive at A1. but always good and testing birds. The next 2 shoots at East Barnet shooting club are on the 7th and 21st of November, I will not be able to make the shoots as I will be away, but it is well worth a visit. If you cannot get hold of me, Bigsteveo knows where it is. bakerboy Edited October 25, 2010 by bakerboy
Beardo
Yes the stock was lengthened and increased drop. No more bruised cheek from trying to push low enough to look down the rib (this is my o/u - my semi fitted well). I'd like to try barnet but struggle to get out on sundays

I have a memebrship with them that reduces the cost of clays a fair bit so I don't mind taking someone with me. ANother challenging shoot is West London shooting school but that is quite expensive. I have my gun fitting there and I must say what a difference, I am a short **** kind of guy and had the stock shortened and drop altered. Dunkield
I'll let Russ know it worked Nick, he is obsessed with gun fit... So we can expect a right hammering from Herts posse next time eh?
Beardo
I don't like broomhills at the mo, it just all feels so samey with every stand facing into the woods. Staff are always friendly though. But even shooting with a member the non members pay full rates. I hear they are building a PSG course at the mo

twitchynik
The Redbournbury shoot is on tomorrow. Shot it for the first time 2 weeks back and I thought it was quite good and fairly cheap - £13 for 60 birds. They say that they change the stands each time to try and keep it fresh which sounds good. Also liked the surroundings, especially the rabbit stand with a river bank and stream as a back stop - you'll see where you missed, that's for sure Can't make it this time but will try and get there on the 6th. Gully
Yeoman, the links earlier on in this thread, I think its 12pm on alternate saturdays and you can just turn up. £6 stands of 10 birds, £13. Did anyone go last saturday? I was fishing there on Friday and they were playing with their new duck flush traps. Wondered if it was any good? Took home a nice 2lb rainbow anyway. Took me 3 hrs and got it on my last cast.
