-oXo-
I'm using a "Jack Pyke Hunter" in olive set, does what I need perfectly. Nice and warm and not too expencive. Comes in real tree as well if you want cammo. Edited November 8, 2010 by -oXo-
ollie
I'm using a "Jack Pyke Hunter" in olive set, does what I need perfectly. Nice and warm and not too expencive. Comes in real tree as well if you want cammo. I have just last week purchased a pair of Jack Pyke Field in English Oak. £23 off fleabay and they do the job well. Beardo
You won't go wrong with Seeland Thornhills or Thresfields as a general all year all rounder. I have Harkila Pro Hunters and Deerhunter Ram, both of which are nice but too heavy for summer.
HW682
I have Harkila Pro Hunters and Deerhunter Ram.... How would you compare the two, bearing in mind that the Harkila are quite a bit more expensive?
Beardo
The Harkila are a fair bit tougher and just ooze quality, the Ram's are a soft (but still tough) material - both are really good trousers. The Harkilas are my all round hunting trouser (even smart enough to wear on driven with my tweed jacket), the Ram's are my winter decoying trouser (APG), i also have the matching jacket. I tend to just wear a cheap pair of lightweight surplus cammo trousers or green Craghoppers in the summer. There are always good deals to be had on the forum - Harkila's seem to go for around £110. Don't often see Ram's for sale (though i note a Jacket and Trousers are for sale at the mo). I found Seeland/Harkila trousers come up a bit small so worth trying on in a shop first if possible. HW682
Thanks for the reply I have Deerhunter Montana jacket, so know pretty much what to expect from the Ram trousers. I have been fancying a pair of Pro Hunter for a while. Nobody at the gamefairs seem to sell them, so still waiting till I can see them in the flesh. WGD
+4s in a heavy tweed with breathable, waterproof lining - I wear mine for everything from lying in mud shooting foxes to standing on a peg on a driven day. Decent boots and gaiters and it's the best, most comfortable combination I've found. Other than that Thornhills are good, as a pro-hunters but I would agree with nickbeardo the pro-hunters are definitely winter wear. Thornhills you can wear all year round and they are plenty warm enough if you stick on a pair of thermals underneath at this time of year. Stealth Stalker
What about these? I started a thread earlier, but no one seems to have them. They look an ideal beaters, ferreters trouser to me http://www.scottcountry.co.uk/products_det...?productID=3849 SS
