new to the flock
Would someone please post some clear pictures of a lander cradle, and a floater cradle without birds on them, so I can see how they are constructed. ( Remember we don't have these over here  ) I would like to make some up. If you would let me know if there is anything special about making them ex. type of steel, angles, where and how clips are attached, etc.. Muchly appreciated NTTF P.S. Did anyone get around to trying to make some paper machie decoys?
Cranfield
I don,t have a "lander", but I will post a picture of a floater, in the next day or so. There are lots of DIY equipment makers on this Forum, I,m sure someone has the blueprints to these items.
Teal
New to the flock I may have just had a very cunning plan for you to make some decoys . Okay you're going to have to use your imagination a little bit here  Okay so how about a 2litre bottle, cut it in half length ways. Then shape the back of it cutting it to give a tail and the front (top and lid) can be the pigeon's head, then simply paint it, two for every bottle you drink Its just an idea never tried it myself but I just thought about it and why not
Teal
NTTF you don't need a lander see number 9: http://www.pigeonwatch.co.uk/tips.htm , the bird will sit in that position and is highly effective only have one or two in a pattern or else it will give the impression of the flock taking off
Cranfield
William, did you ever get a Blue Peter badge for your decoy design ?
dead-eye-dick
Hmmmmmmmmmm, William, they are very shiny decoys... If you speak nicely to Cranners maybe he'll knit you some of his woolly decoy jackets - see "new products" forum. :(
Teal
Yes, I know they're not mine I just found a did a google search for pigeon decoys because I didn't want to have to scan in pictures of mine  I don't need decoys but it was a reasonable suggestion considering NTTF lives in Canada and the shipping prices would be ridiculous for real decoys. Paper mache ones will just "dissolve" if it rains.
new to the flock
William; It was actually a couple of other members that were talking of making the paper machie decoys, I've been using silhoute decoys that I made about six years ago. The silhoutes do a pretty good job as we don't have too many decoy shy birds around here. I'm interested in the craddles to fill in and to add a touch of realizm to the spread. The idea of the pop bottle decoys was kinda neat and I may try it just to see if it works. Your idea also proves that a certain amount of alcohol and sleep deprivation are good for the brain  . Just kidding William but yours is one of the few names I catch on here around 2:30-3:00 am. You're also right about the import duties and shipping on decoys. It is going to be a nightmare, however as soon as I can finish paying off my middle son's dental bill I will be ordering some flock coated shells from some company called ##############, anybody heard of them? Skuta
You're also right about the import duties and shipping on decoys. It is going to be a nightmare NTTF If you speak nicely to the guys at Decoying .uk and ask them to put on item contents Gift or Present if its the same as the UK you won't have to pay import duty
