Any views on 04 plate Shogun Sports.

Got a friend who is looking to buy one and has found a good clean example which has been used by horsey landowning types.

04 plate, 2.5td, service history, bfg at's and 62k on the clock. They are asking about 4.75k for it.

I presume they will be the same engine and gear box as they L200 which means same mpg ( 23?).

If anyone has one or knowledge of them please let me know.

Thanks.

First thing i would be asking is what these "horsey" types have been pulling, yes Shoguns are capable of pulling well but pulling large boxes with heavy horses could have caused premature wearing of disks, pads & general engine wear.

Also Shoguns have a problem with electrical problems and check under the chasis well.

I Had an L200 for a few years towed alsorts didnt notice premature wearing on brakes at all, engine was still towing and running fine at over 130k.

i had an 06 and i loved it. weather like this and i regret selling it. if it`s a good one it will be bombproof. driving easy mine gave over 30mpg.

As above - mine was 2000 model tho

yep the same as the older L200's I believe, not sure about the 23mpg unless you have a lead foot I've had two now and they certainly weren't anywhere near that economy wise

I think you would struggle to drive it to get 23mpg . . . unless you were fully loaded and full bore everywhere.

I dont think you will go far wrong with a shogun or L200.

Love mine to bits. 53 plated Equip. Does what it says on the tin. Bags of space for guns and gear. Great for towing and camping gear. Getting about 30 plus to the gallon but I don't really take it over 3000 rpm. One thing I will say is that it seems to be very touchy on which desiel I give it to drink. Shell gives the best all round performance and keeps things running sweet. Other brands and the car runs noticably rougher. Oh yeah I have chipped mine to get a sweeter drive.

I had the Warrior version for a couple of years and although it was a nice looking truck it was a harsh ride. It would practically shake your fillings loose on a bumpy road.

Fuel consumption was high as well but i never had any mechanical problems with it.

They do need looking after and the service interval is only 6000 miles, so they cost to keep on the road.

Other than that i liked it and ended up plumping for another Mitsubishi when the need for a 4x4 arose again

Cheers

Can't comment on the diesel flavour ones, we have the v6 petrol. Great motor but a bit thirsty. Very nice to drive, and I can't say that I found the ride particularly harsh, especially compared to a Landy.

From experience of Shoguns I would look carefully at the front tyres, they do seem prone to wear in the steering linkages and track rod ends which means eating the edges of the tyres. Other than that I think they are a great wagon.
