JonD
Hi All, I sent off for the 25 straight ESK badge and Bronze ESP badges along with the forms and payment 2 weeks ago having put the qualifying scores in in the last classification period at registered events. How long do they normally take to come through? On the flip side they were quick to remind me about my membership renewal twice, I renewed last Wed online and got my new card on Friday. Cheers, Jon. Catamong
For goodness sake Jon, what are you going to do with it, 25 straight, get real man, you can't possibly wear it on your skeet vest..?? I'm sure Bigweed will sell you a 100 straight badge, because he's in line for that one soon enough, now that's a badge worth wearing. Cat. You've made I chuckle there matey! I wouldn't wear one of those "straight" badges if they GAVE them away. I remember seeing a certain former H&W chairman at a local straw baler with his skeet vest plastered in these things & what an absolute '***** he looked! I also chuckle when I see people wearing their England or GB vests &/or badges at local shoots. Talk about setting yourself up for a fall or just givin' it the biggun' with the inevitable starry eyed entourage of backside kissing groupies. Much better to stay under the radar.....'least that what I reckon.

I am well aware that there are plenty of England, GB or ex-England or ex-GB shooters who choose not to wear their badges. It's a personal thing. Some do, some don't. I'm sure some choose not to, because they don't want to attract snide digs from grubby non-achievers. Those that do choose to wear them ought to be able to do so without being ridiculed. JonD
Well first and foremost I only asked a straight forward question hoping for a straight forward answer. As for the sarcastic comments, "Do you want a 100 straight badge" No I don't as i haven't earned it. "For goodness sake Jon, what are you going to do with it, 25 straight, get real man, you can't possibly wear it on your skeet vest..??" Did I say I was going to put it on my skeet vest? NO, I rarely wear one and coming from someone like yourself I find it very offensive and to be honest probably one of the worst examples of putting a novice shooters achievements down as worthless, I have found PW to be very friendly until now. With all the carp we have from the anti's etc I really wonder what the reason is behind it. You may be able to knock 25 straights out left right and centre but it's taken me a lot of hard work to achieve since I started shooting last year, battling serious dominace issues etc. I'm sure Bigweed will do a ton very soon and look forward to seeing the news of it. As for Munglers special needs attempt to deface the ESK badge, that's the members badge not the 100 straight badge, that one i'll be proud to wear should I ever achieve it. I'm sure you are very aware of the laws around copyright infringement. "I wouldn't wear one of those "straight" badges if they GAVE them away" That's your choice, people perceive things differently. To my mind it's better to be thought a muppet than to open your mouth and confirm it. You don't know me, I don't know you yet you decide to deride me. As for seeing Team GB or ENG guys wearing their vests with pride and you thinking it bullocks, where's yours? You are doing a great job for promoting the sport, as Chard suspects you are possibly just bitter about never being good enough to get one. As for the great GD not wearing it.. who cares, he is a legend and inspiration who also started out shooting a lot of skeet. 16 world championships under his belt he doesn't need any introduction. At the end of the day I have only been shooting for about 17 months and am proud of what I have achieved hence wanting the badges to pin in the gun cupboard to remind me to shoot better and get the 50, 75, 100 etc. They were this year's goals for me. It just seems that there is so much anti CPSA BS on here at the moment. Do I comment on straw bales and slag them off? no, do I shoot straw bales Yes and I enjoy them very much. I don't care if you are a CPSA member or not, that's your choice. I chose to be a member and enjoy shooting registered events, in some cases it's a lot cheaper to shoot registered but at no point have ever posted YOU MUST JOIN THE CPSA. If you don't like it grow a pair as a few guys on here have, get involved with the CPSA and improve the sport. If you don't want to then ferme le bouche and enjoy the shooting you enjoy. As a shooting community we should help&support each other irrespective of whether we shoot clay, pigeon, rabbit, hare, fox, pheasant, paper etc. Jon. I'm sure you are very aware of the laws around copyright infringement. Jon, your badge is special because I made it for you. If you don't like it you don't have to wear it. To suggest it is "special needs" when it is not and does not purport to be is probably some form of disability discrimination and yes damn it, you will be hearing from my lawyers. Seriously though, lighten up. I did love the bit about copyright infringement; that made me laugh but I guess you weren't trying to be funny and that made me chuckle a little bit more. Incidentally, the first person to mention the CPSA or running it down or otherwise in this thread was you. And yes, the CPSA thing is boring now, it's all been said and done before. Each to their own on that one. May your quest for badges be fruitful.

If there's one thing in life that I can recognise, it's light-hearted banter, and that wasn't. The rise in sniping and anti-CPSA **** on here lately is a direct result of the demise of Claysporting.com. The hardcore who destroyed Claysporting now need somewhere else to go and be poisonous and it looks like this site has been chosen. Great pity. So why would I enjoy the other site, Einstein? And another thing.... If you're going to be obnoxious, have the balls to be obnoxious. There's a bit too much of this posting **** and then trying to say it's light-hearted banter when somebody has a pop. This stereotypical response becomes boring. Always the same : "It's light-hearted banter..." "You're aggressive" "You must be having a bad day" Yeah, yeah, yeah....yawn Edited December 3, 2010 by Chard
hillmouse
First of all, Many congratulations on your 25 straight. 17 months experience and 25% of the way to the 100 badge already. I am a CPSA L1 Instructor and L2 Coach ESP. I wear my "Railtrak Orange" skeet vest with pride depsite the skit and snide comments of a few. I worked damned hard for it, did it in less than 12 months ( I have been shooting for 30+years) and get great satisfaction from introducing newcomers properly and helping sort out problems for those of a more advanced level. I have clients who walk off with their Shotgun Skills badges who show as much pride in this achievement as some do from winning a competition. If they shot a 25 straight would feel like they had won a World championship. This tangible reward, some sign they are getting somewhere is what keeps them inspired, prepared to spend the fortune it needs to progress and develop their skills and to remain involved in the sport. Everyone started somewhere near the bottom and many see each new step upwards as a major achievement. I know I do. Just because a person has made it to the top it does not mean they need to look down on those still climbing the ladder. Maybe offering a hand down to help those "below" you up another rung is a better use of for such a lofty position, sadly not used as often as it could be. I noticed a current World Champion coaching at my local ground the other day. A very personable and knowledgeable man offering positive, friendly and useful advice to a group of aspiring shots. Now that is worthy of respect.
skyshooter
When I first joined th CPSA I did'n Know they did badges for 25 straight etc otherwise I would have had them all if I'd have done the deed No question. I did manage to scrape into the North of England team in the nineties, and boy am I still proud of that badge! And the fact that I shot for the North at Sandringham!! I no longer wear the badge because I've grown out of that skeet vest and would be ridiculed because I dont shoot to that level now. However If I can get back to my former level maybe put it back on
