Hubertus
We were pigeon shooting in the North West of Germany the weekend. All pigeons from here are gone to that area this time of the year. There were really masses of them sitting in the trees. They were not really moving. We had some good weather (+2 degrees) and no wind. Is maybe the wind the reason why there not moving. I got 15 that day. Hubertus
henry d
The wind helps by breaking big flocks up and it also muffles the sound of gunshots. Some people think that pigeons don`t like flying in high air pressure, sunny but cold still days,as it is harder to fly.The only way to find out is to ask a pigeon

Hubertus
But in your experience do the pigeons fly more on windy days or not. Or is there probably not such a influence at all from wind? What is in your opinions best flying weather for pigeons? Hubertus
Highlander
I find that wind puts me at odds with mrs pavman Pavman I've told you before...stop holding her head under the covers Hubertus...ask pavman about last Saturday, no wind not a breath but would he listen? would he hell. Had to go shooting. Go on ask him how much wind effects the results Seriously though I would consider it almost the single most important thing about pigeon shooting. Almost that is apart from pigeons. :o
henry d
......and this afternoon it is blowing a Bas**** and I promised a nice meal for her :< Still it seems to be windy for the next 2 days
gunner
wind keeps pigeons low and brake up large flocks and also muffles the gunshots but you must setup in a sheltered field from the wind for the best effect having it come from behind and then you get a good kill ,

iamspartacus
the problem is there's not very often frost and wind on the same day!!
Guest konings
HELLO HUBERTUS, THE PIGEONS BRING IN MOVEMENT TO GET, THAT IS A TIME SHOOT IN THE AIR, IN THE HOPE THAT THEY CONTINUE FLY, AND SITING THE PIGEONS AL THE DAY ON THE TREES?? MIJN EXPERIENCE IS IN A SUNNY DAY, AND A WINDY DAY MOST OF THE PIGEONS ARE SHOT, AND THEN STILL A NIGHT BEFORE STRICTLY FREEZE. IF THERE STANDS NO WIND ,THEN FLY THEM TOO HIGH TO SHOOT BE ABLE. plexer
Konings: please don't post all in capitals it is considered shouting and is rude. Definately better for pigeon shooting when there is some wind. Especially when roost shooting as you have a better idea from which direction the pigeons will come in no wind and they will come in from all directions.
