henry d
I use a max-pro on both my .22lr and .222, when walking. It`s a good set up with the dimmer switch and I tend not to take long shots with the triple when walking as most of them are under 100yds. vampire
I use a deben max tracer on my .22lr cz and as hand lamp when with mate who has .17hmr,400yrd beam never had any problems,if anything i would say its BETTER to have than a huge search light that iluminates the whole county :o

mick miller
Good lamp, adequate on the .17hmr although don't use the nasty plastic clip, get yourself the metal scope clip instead and a lithium ion battery while your at it. You'll also need the dimmer unit.
Dekers
I have the mini pro and the MAX PRO, they both get used, including on my .243. I rate them as exceptionally good VFM. Yes, there are brighter lamps, but it is night after all, I have no problem with 200 yard plusssssss shots at night with the MAX, how many people want to shoot anything much further than that at night very often?? Frankly, I don't often shoot much further than that in daylight (except on the range)! If you are looking at 300-400yard shots regularly at night then get a big Lightforce (which will break down and eat batteries), other than that the Max Pro is fine! Agree with the clip! but forget the suggested one...buy this, it's cheaper and you get a spare Deben HM5207 1" £6.50 (30mm version HM5208 £6.95) 2. worth considering but still a VERY expensive option, the lithiun battery costs MORE than the WHOLE Deben Max Pro Package! 3. The PRO includes the dimmer unit!
