adam f
Ive got my FAC interview next week. I picked up an ammo safe this week and intend to bolt it ontop of my gun cabinet. Ive a few Q's.. Is this OK - or will the ammo safe need to be in a seperate location? The safe Ive bought is for FAc bullets - I currently store my 12g carts in the same cupboard but on the floor around the cabinet - is this allowed or should I move these - esp. as I have the FAO visit? jonevo
If it was me I would move all ammo out of sight of the FEO,
apache
I keep shotgun carts with the gun cabinet and full boxes under the bed! Fixing the safe above the gun cabinet is fine. I pup a couple of bolts through the bottom of the safe into the gun cabinet.
Dekers
Fitting an ammo safe in the proximity of main cabinet is fine. You are responsible for the safe storage of shotgun cartridges, frankly I would avoid questions and keep them out of sight when FEO turns up! bullet boy
My ammo safe is no-where near my cabinet. This is my own preference,i honestly think your FEO might want it away from your cabinet too!?
apache
My ammo safe is no-where near my cabinet. This is my own preference,i honestly think your FEO might want it away from your cabinet too!? Not really their prerogative. A gun cabinet with integral ammo safe complies, therefore a separate safe above the cabinet has to. I don't think the FEO is going to bother if they see a few shotgun cartridges about. You guys do worry sometimes. got_the_eye_in
My ammo safe is just sat on top of my cabinet with two bolts into the wall and my FEO was fine with that, he didnt even question it. As far as the shotgun carts go I would place them out of sight just to be on the safe side.
Dekers
My ammo safe is no-where near my cabinet. This is my own preference,i honestly think your FEO might want it away from your cabinet too!? As already said, Many rifle cabinets have integral ammo storage so any FEO has no case for you keeping the two separate. If that is any individuals preference then so be it, and probably a sensible idea as well if it can be done!

steve_b_wales
I've got two 'ammo' safes, both bolted through the top of my cabinets, and also into the wall. My FEO is happy with this, and hasn't even passed comment about them.

A responsible approach is all they want to see. As long as they aren't stacked in the front room for all to see. You guys do worry sometimes. Again I agree, the FEO has seen it all. You won't convince him you deserve special concideration because you've re-invented the wheel.
adam f
OK - thanks all. Now bolted ontop of the gun box. Shotgun carts now stored elsewhere. Fingers crossed it all goes OK! Edited December 18, 2010 by adam f
