njc110381
Fair point pal but up North this is the third winter of snow and no lessons learned by the councils or highways agency. Yes but that would involve spending money. Don't you think the highways agency have enough on their plates paying five blokes to lean on a shovel and watch another guy in a digger on almost every road in the UK? They can't afford to spend on something sensible!

HDAV
Classic Whats the betting that some scrote will nick the shovels  !!! LOL i lent my shovel to a woman up the road who was trying to dig herself out with a plastic dust pan.... then pushed her up the road and she drove off with shovel..... Eventually got it back with a thankyou xmas card after putting a note through her door... So many people are just so unprepared I have a shovel, 3 bags of grit/salt snow socks, tow rope etc all ready. I am not going to get stuck lightly total spend about £100 to include all of the above! Much better than spending a night stuck in the car, if only every other muppet was half as prepared we woudlnt have this gridlock. Time HGV's carried snow chains as legal requirement between 01 Nov and 31 March?
Hornet 6
Balls you can fit replacement tyres and they aren't a modification. Agreed, you can replace tyres when ever you like, provided you use a recommended replacement, as specified and approved by the manufacturer. Personally I don't run a 4x4 neither have I changed tyres, it goes where I need as it is. So no insurace problems for me, although there is recomended winter/snow tyre specified for my car, which is also TUV approved. Neil. bruno22rf
Best thing i,ve seen for ages was about 2 weeks back when we first got a bit of ice-into our school carpark comes Mr Range Rover Sport-well over 60k and reads the road a thousand times a minute?-well this one didnt read it correctly and the beast slid gracefully sideways into the railings-the only car to do so to date. How about 'Bungalow Bill' (not much upstairs), I watched him spend 2 hrs digging his car out of the snow, did I help him no - but gave him some advise when he had nearly finished. Bill(not his real name), there was no need to dig your car out as it was parked on a hill facing down hill - just let the handbrake off m8. Not forgetting the very intelligent. at the hospital a lady doctor got stuck in the carpark full of snow, blaming the estates staff for not clearing it for her but wanted them to push her out after insulting them. I hold her "your tyres are worn out and if we push you back up the slope, so when you leave you can easily drive out", she replied "I'm not very good on technical issues, could you explain it again?" Plus the consultant who wanted me to dig out his Lexus, so I brought x2 shovels, handing him a shovel & had to run some quick training on how to use it.
