Ratsmasher
Hi all, looking to buy some cheapish decoys for the woodies, have seen these new to decoying so thought Id stick a link on here and ask if they are the right sort of thing http://www.amazon.co.uk/Pigeon-Decoys-Definition-Shotgun-Shooting/dp/B001TNCZ1E/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1293458026&sr=8-
retromlc
personally I think you would be better buying flocked ones, these look plastic and can shine too much, flocked ones are a little dearer but you want to give yourself the best chance when spending hours in the field it's worth the money. Jim Sarakun
retromlc is right, these are plastic and shine pretty good in the sunlight and when wet, ok if your shooting on a dry overcast day. Flocked are better, but that comes off eventually so I would recommend the rubber ones. http://www.philipmorris.uk.com/dept/Shooting-accessories/Decoys-Game-Calls-Accessories/Pigeon-Decoys/product/-Pigeon-Decoy-Easy-Fold-Wood-Pigeon-Decoy Click it or copy and paste it. Bit pricey here so try flea bay, or do a web trawl. Well worth the effort and they work well on the springy post they come with, or on a cradle. Silosocks work well too. If you are hard up, use a milk bottle dipped in water, then ash from the fire, you will be surprised. bunny_blaster
Ive got them decoys from that shop mate. Theyve lasted me a fair while and they get used alot. Yes flocked decoys would be better but these shells dont shine as much as others say. I'll be going to collect some more as soon as there open again. harpoonlouis
Whathave you actually done to the shells? Complete re-paint or coated them with something? Have you used any of that white paint that gives off UV ( or whatever it is supposed to give off) I have a pile of almost unused shells that could tarted up a bit Thanks

Have you used any of that white paint that gives off UV ( or whatever it is supposed to give off) I have a pile of almost unused shells that could tarted up a bit Thanks Hi Mate, it is a complete repaint, but there is no UV pint involved (don't believe that myself.) I have been messing around with different paint and methods for ages getting what I think is right and I think they work a treat. without wanting to sound conceited, I intend to sell a few and the paint and method are a closely guarded secret. :yp: :yp: :yp: :yp: ATB bigt
