Dorsey
Hello peoples, My '02 L200 has decided it's time for the bottom crankshaft (bonded) pulley to start to wobble and cause my belts to rub so I know it's time to change it out. This is apparently a commonish problem on these so just wondered if any of you have had one/fixed one before and just whether it's a relatively simple driveway job? Ta muchly. Dorsey
Rad off, fan out and try wiggle it off I guess? I'm no mechanic but have managed to change a clutch before so I reckon I'll be ok
Paul223
getting the crank bolt undone is the hard bit, easy if you have an impact air gun, more difficult if not
Dorsey
Hmm I'm guessing a BSA meteor doesn't count I did have a hilti nut gun but it got stolen with the rest of my tools just before Christmas. I'm guessing a non Mitsubishi pulley will do for half the price. Thanks for the reassurance tho!

iandl
As Tam says ...worth joining the L200 forums ...loads of good info on there .......I changed mine recently, youll need a good long bar, or scaffold tube on tommy bar .....put the car into gear and try and slacken ....i know some will turn engine over to crack the initial bite from the threadlock but i didnt need to. also order a new bolt when you order the new pulley ...i also had to go and buy a set of pulley removers from halfords (the outer came off fine but the inner part was a pig) .....also had to take the radiator out and would be worth changing all your other belts when youve got it stripped down. put on some threadlock when you replace bolt and remember inner belts when you reassemble when you refill your radiator remove the little brass thermostat on engine head ....makes life a lot easier to bleed your system not a bad job to do just a bit time consuming if things have seized a bit good luck regards Ian
Dorsey
I did the belts a few hundred miles ago - that's when I noticed the pulley - where did you order your parts from Ian? Sounds like I should manage it in an afternoon or so tho
quicksilver
Just been reading through some posts on the l200. I had one as a company car new in 2003 and I am thinking seriously of buying it back from the person that bought it off my company and has had it since. Are parts for the 2003 hard to come by these days

Are parts for the 2003 hard to come by these days parts are dead easy and cheap from Milners, look at what work it has done before buying though as its getting on a bit, As said it was a weak period for heads but most have been done by now and its not that major a repair as the bits are reasonably priced. If you can stretch to an 06 onwards they are a fair bit more economical, I've just swapped my 05 in after a lot of use and the difference in fuel use is great
move-mount-miss
If you drill a 6mm hole in the bell housing you can insert a Philips screw driver onto the ring gear to lock the crank shaft.
