mickmep
if you're asking about the patches in the cabinet, i do for the sake of £7. even if it doesn't work its not going to do any harm.
J@mes
depends how damp your cabinet is. I had them in in my first house, and they were fine but since I've moved I've had to put a small heater in the cabinet to keep it dry. VP90 impregnated gun socks made no difference to amount of rust forming either. As said, for £7 try it. but keep an eye on things!
sitsinhedges
After the appalling service and attitude I received from Napier recently I would rather use my gun as a fencing stake before I gave then another penny of my money. I had free VP's when I bought my cabinets but can't say I'm overly impressed. If they do anything then it's just masking a problem that needs addressing properly. peek-at
I use napiers gun oil with VP90. Cant harm to have a rust inhibitor in with it
Loki
Hi Agree with SinH re Napier - tried to convince me with a card-shot through the door that I would save £7.50 using some code. After email clarification from them went through the webpage to find that postage adds about the same so no saving at all - in fact could order 2 of the VP90s from Mole-something Farmers including postage and save a couple of quid. Still waiting for Napiers explanation after setting this out but no reply to date......... As for any good - dunno but put 1 in each cabinet for what good they do (freebies with a Brattonsound). Cheers L

BerettaSV10
For the sake of £7 a year against the value of the gun/s in the cabinate, I prefer to use it. I would be most annoyed if through not using it the barrels rusted, although I do oil my stuff before putting them away.
ostrea
I have been using the vp90 for a couple of years seems to work fine, have them in my cabinet and the pack is double the original size after twelve months no rust mark on my guns but obviously must be some dampness in the cupboard for the pack to absorb so much. I also use the napier sachet oil patches very handy after a days shooting and you do not get a chance to clean and oil the gun properly for a few hours. HDAV
Actually why does no one else make a similar product? Leiga ? Hoppes?
fuzrat
use the napier gun cleaner which contains vp90, find it a great product. A spray down both barrels and pull the boresnake through at the end of the day and a squirt over the outside with the forend off then wipe over with a duster that i always use, probably built up a fair amound of oil on it by now. then into a spare dry slip or the motor case if it has been a wet day. Seen so many people wipe their gun off and put it back in the same damp slip before going to the pub Fuzrat
John_R
Actually why does no one else make a similar product? Leiga ? Hoppes? Model engineering shops sell rust inhibitors for tool cabinets and the like. Been a while since I was buying from such outlets, so I cannot name a product right now, but they do exist. Alycidon
If you have damp in the cabinet putting a 40 watt electric lamp in there should sort it. Americans use a product called Golden Rod, it is a small heater that plugs into the mains putting out about 40w or so. I used a product called Warthog ( spray it onto a pad and put the pad inside the cabinet) and found it pretty good but it seems they are no more. Since then I have inspected every two weeks and reoil at 6 weeks. I have since had an electrical supply put in but have yet to connect it up.
