pegleg31
I've just been to a localish rifle club to have a look round and a chat about joining.I'm looking to apply for FAC in a few months when i have to renew my SGC.What i'd like to know is, do all club's vary in fees?.As this paticular club wants £100 probationary fee wether you get accepted or not and then £100 yearly membership fee once your accepted. You can shoot at this club everyday of the week dusk too dawn which if i was FAC i think is a fair price.I just wanted to know if there were any clubs around where you spend a smaller fee on joining then pay per visit?. If i'm honest i'm not interested in target shooting i just think it would be better if i got used to all the safety aspects of rifle shooting. When i spoke to the FAO last week he told me not to bother going to a club just to get more 'field experiance'. Imperfection
My club is £100 per year too which i think is excellent value.Even if you only go once a week its a nominal figure! If you've been accepted to join the club for their probationary period you'll be fine for full membership unless you do something daft! Regarding target shooting-i dont intend setting any records because i like collecting old military rifles which will never be as accurate and i just enjoy shooting them. Is this club small bore or full bore? Edited January 15, 2011 by Imperfection

Vince Green
Clubs have their costs to cover and nothing is cheap anymore. Its often over £1000 to join a golf club, just to introduce a sense of proportion. My mate pays £1500 a year for his golf club membership and reckons its a bargain Edited January 15, 2011 by Vince Green
pegleg31
i'm not saying it's over priced at all, if your FAC i'd say it was value for money.but as i'm not FAC i'm not to sure it will be money well spent as there's nothing to say i'll get passed and the FAO already said it was'nt necessary.it's just that i'd rather get a little more experiance
Dekers
Club fees are down to the clubs to set. My Club at Bisley is a very reasonable £75 per year, with NO additional range fees, but we only shoot March-October, because it's outside at Bisley and we are all big girlies. Remember the many other benefits most clubs offer. You are fully insured on any approved range, you have NRA affiliation (or NSRA), in our case you get training for your Shooters Certification Card, you have use of the armoury and clubhouse, not to mention a few shoots and good company, and our annual BBQ! Flippen 'ek where can you get that lot for £75!

Psyxologos
Mine was £40 probationary for 6 months and £60 per year once accepted. Small club though, and only open on evenings...
