i know this whole which pattern is best thing has been done a million times before but i guess one more time wont hurt.

i've been having varied success on some rape fields that have a wood along the edge of them. i've had some good late afternoon's as the pigeons are coming in to roost but i've also seen the pigeons dropping into the fields from the woods during the day. as these aren't flying along a flight line should i use the standard horse shoe or comma pattern or set them up differntly for the birds dropping in.

thanks

andy.

The reason the question comes up regularly is because that there is no "best" pattern that always works.

We all have a couple of favourite patterns that usually work, but the wise thing is be prepared to change your pattern if it isn't working.

That includes increasing, or decreasing the amount of decoys, changing the shape and adding or removing floaters/flappers/rotary, etc.

There are a few alternative ideas posted at the top of this section.
