yankeedoodlepigeon
Hi all. The speedo on my 406 just stopped working and I got a second hand one from the scrapyard but they have over 30,000 more miles on than mine. Is it possible to get it corrected to the right milage providing I keep the old clock and mot's to prove milage? Thanks Lea
Dekers
I'm sure you are a very genuine person, but can't help wondering , anyway, ask at the scrapyard, if there is a way they WILL know how!
yankeedoodlepigeon
I just rang up Pugbits they said they can only put them forward. I will try the scrapyard where I got it from though. Ta I would get another set but its booked in the garage this afternoon to get fitted. Its a tire changing garage really but they noticed the engine managment lights while it was in getting new black circles and after I said the speedo wasn't working they said go to local scrappi get clock and they will fit them for me, along with brake shoes too as thaty was another light on. mark the hat
are they digi clocks if they are then yes you can get them sorted, its not elegal to change clocks even with less milage on than the car has done,it only becomes an offence when you come to sell the said car and dont(and i'm not saying you would do that) inform the perspective buyer what you have done and why(ie changed the clocks because their was a fault with the old set) hope this helps atb mark
mpk
I agree with mark I had to do this on an old golf, I phoned Vosa and dvla and they were fine, I made them aware even though I did not need to and kept record for the work to show to a prospective buyer if I came to sell it . HDAV
I'm sure there is a note on the V5 for oddometer that are replaced it has the date and mileage that the clock was changed at (normal if you buy a new clock/odometer)

bruno22rf
On my motorbike i cut the end off an old speedo cable and put it into a drill-connected it to the speedo and run it in reverse-takes a long time though.
berties
I have seen a young Asian chap connect his lap top up to a car and with his software put what you want on it ,but with car data at mot held centrally it's easy to spot a car that been wound back ,if you want to look it up
