As title says, What gun do you own, chokes, barrel length and why! Time to flaunt what you own guys include pictures if you wish!

I only own one gun, O/U Beretta Silver Pigeon 1, Multi Choke with 1/4 + 1/2 in at the moment, 28inch barrels.

Chosen because it has 10 year warrenty and 1 years worth of insurance, was in my price range, and I've heard nothing but good comments with Beretta!

:good:

i use a mrowning maxus 30"barrel 1/2 choke for pigeon shooting, great gun for using in a hide, just leant up against gun rest and loaded in verticle position,no need to pulling gun about in hide ,just pick up and shoot.and i use a mcnab highlander 30" fixed choke 1/4 1/2 for pheasant and partridge.would prefer to use semi for everything but they are still frowned upon on most game shoots... :/

Winchester Select Sporting 2 M/C 30" barrels. Chosen because i had tried a few guns but the winny just "felt right" from the moment i picked it up and was in my price range. I shoot sporting clays with cylinder and 1/4 chokes and when i'm in the field 1/4 and 1/2 chokes. I like the 30" barrels as it tends to swing better when on the clays. I also have a master side by side 28" barrels 1/2 and full chokes which i use more in the field TBH as its lighter to carry and generally just a nice gun to use. So there we are, they are the guns that i use. Interesting post by the way :good:

Was a hard choice between 28" and 30" barrels for me, being 6 foot i was on the border both! 30 just didnt feel as nice to me plus i didnt want to be carrying a 30" around the fild. I guess as its my first gun I wont know the difference, either length id have to get use to! and around 7.5lbs for 28" was perfect weight for me :) also checked the ballancing point on my gun and it was dead centre at the pivot so that was one of the deciding factors for me!

If they do

who cares? you got a beautiful gun that works! others were just unlucky. Stick what works for you and not what people say! :)

For game: Beretta Silver Pigeon 5 12 bore, multi choke but 1/4 and 1/2 in usually, 30 inch barrels

For Pigeons and Ducks: Benelli M2 12 bore, multi choke but 1/4 in at the moment, 28 inch barrel

If i fancy a change and because it was the first gun i ever bought: Parker Hale Sidelock, 12 bore, chocked 1/2 and full, 28 inch barrels.

Occasionally especially if i'm walking a lot: Lincoln Premier 20 bore, multi choke but 1/4 and 1/2 in usually, 29 1/2 inch barrels. (wife usually uses this one for clays)

Same order in the photo. I find longer barrels swing better.

All sorts, but main gun is 28" 101,teague choked.Quarter in top, half in bottom, fire top barrel first.Have always had Browning/winchester sporters, they seem to fit me well.

You mention top barrel first, some people are very particular with what barrel they shoot first, is there any reason you choose this?

I shoot what either barrel first depending on range. Some say that less recoil with bottom barrel making the follow up shot easier as the recoil is down right in the shoulder, I personally never notice any difference! :|

Like a lot of others I have numerous guns tucked away, but the main gun is a Browning GTi Ultra Sporter with 32" barrels.

The gun has been fitted and weighs in at just on 7lb

It swings lovely the pivot point is way off centre but does not affect the balance, it must be the way I mount the gun.

The added benefit of 32" barrels is that if you wait long enough for incomers or driven, you can poke the clay or the pheasant and save on cartridges.

By the way I have had the gun from new and it must be 20+ years old had 1000's of cartridges through it and has never missed a beat.

Can't say I've ever noticed any difference either.I always shoot the more'open' choke first as i do a lot of walked up shooting and bolting bunnies,I'm not really particular about top or bottom, just whichever is the more open. But saying that,I always put the 'open' choke in the top barrel after cleaning, simply to avoid confusion.

Has the stock been hollowed out alot? as you mentioned the ballancing point wasnt great?

No, other than having a severe off cast, nothing has been touched, there is just too much metal at the front, fortunatley a large lump a the other end, but not large enough to be a World Champion many times over.

I am now looking for a 20g for the novices, any going dirt cheap, then I am interested not worried about condition or configeration, just need to be safe, will collect or pay for RFD transfer
