Maori Haz
Could be... it look's quite scruffy maybe immature :yp: I've been looking at google images.. the eye looks like a sparrowhawks.. because a buzzards is very dark, and a sparrowhawks is more yellow.. It's tough to tell what it is MH

Maori Haz
I think it is too small to be a kestrel, and actually looking at the breast of the Buzzard does look like it could be one :yp: It's a tough decision, maybe we should ask Konings if he sees Buzzards/Sparrowhawks around the premises regularly MH
Fisherman Mike
Definately a Buzzard. Or Ive wasted 40 years of Twitching :yp: FM.

Fisherman Mike
Fisherman Mike u've turned my vote round :*) What is the difference between twitching and birdwatching :yp: MH :*) Not a lot... Twitchers tend to be obsessive dropping everything at a moments notice to seek out a rare sighting. Thankfully ive grown out of it now but Ive had a few expensive trips around the country. FM. Slipster
Female Sparrow hawk Eyes are the wrong colour, there is no yellow on the dead one... You dont get the yellow as the bird gets over two hours old the eyes turn grey and get a film over them
Maori Haz
Yes but on it's breast it clearly looks like the chest of a buzzard (Stuart P's picture) compared to the female sparrowhawk's (my Pic) MH :yp:

Ferret Master
Hi, I can't find my European bird book and I will have a look later. I have just looked at some pictures of the view of birds of prey when they are flying and it looks very much like a Buzzard by the pattern of it's plumage. Note the characteristic lighter patch of plumage under it's beak. FM :yp:
