Sco77w
It feels like i've been waiting ages. my original application went in in November but the person I had counter-sign my app forgot to sign the photo so it had to be re-submitted. my cheque got cashed on the 17th of December and I could actually have a cert in my hand in a couple of weeks. Been worth the wait, I'm sure. Any advice on what gun (£1000 max, give or take)

Sco77w
I also quite fancy the Armsan A612 as a cheap semi too. Seen the reviews, but can such a cheap gun be that good?

Seen the reviews, but can such a cheap gun be that good? well i have a hatsan, another cheap semi auto, had it 2 year and it has never let me down once. its been a very reliable gun. and for the money i paid brand new. well i cant give it anything else but praise. HDAV
Any advice on what gun (£1000 max, give or take) With £1000 to spend Miroku, Beretta or Browning are what i would be looking for
Sco77w
Semiautolee, do you take the Escort to shoot clays? if you do how is it accepted? I think finances may dictate the semi-auto may come first and the o/u when funds allow (thinking I can use the s/a for pigeon shooting if I gain permission. HDAV
O/U much better first gun than semi far less to go wrong and clean/maintain you can shoot pigeon just as easily with an O/U as a semi
phaedra1106
When I got back into shooting in 2007 my first choice was an O/U as I'd had a very nice Miroku during the 80s/90s. But ..... money was tight and price was an issue so I took a chance on a new Hatsan Escort Semi, cost me a massive £275!!. Apart from one problem (my fault) which was sorted out superbly by Edgar Brothers it has been an excellent gun. My son and I both shoot it every 2 weeks on clays, no problems at all with the other shooters and there are now quite a few Semi's used there. tizzi
I know Armsan inside out and they should not be catergorised with Hatsan as they are a superior gun in both design and engineering. I bought mine a year ago through my local dealer and they come with a 3 year warranty but i dont think ill ever need to use it!. My gunsmith(who is one of the country's finest) looked closely at mine and mentioned that if he didnt know better he would of thought it an italian gun of exceptional quality hence to say both his wife and he shoot with Armsans now. Highly recommended
tizzi
The importers for ARMSAN are vikingarms www.vikingarms.com and they will find your local supplier

koikeeper
If you have a £1000 budget have a go with Winchester select sporter, made by Browning but lots of Beretta about it,Tried it out against Miruko and Browning, beat them hands down, came up better and much less felt recoil.
