Cannon
I've just noticed an article on the BASC app on my phone regarding new proposals to firearms law in Northern Ireland. The two new main proposals are as follows- 1 - To allow supervised use of airguns and shotguns by young people 2 - The ability for firearms dealers to do one on one off variations for firearms of a similar calibre and type This would certainly be a step in the right direction for the shooters over here. I for one would be quite in favour of these proposed amendments, not to mention the dealers would be too. What do you think?
ollie
I was speaking to a dealer a couple of months back and they said it is only a matter of time before the 1 of 1 on for similar calibres takes place. i.e. if you had a .17HMR and you wanted to take it off for a .22lr. I think it can be only good, at least this and the apparent speed up in the licensing process means they are getting their house in order. rapid rich
Well this has been in the pipeline for a long time and we are led to believe it will eventually happen. Sooner the better, Rich
tikka.223
2 - The ability for firearms dealers to do one on one off variations for firearms of a similar calibre and type When will the dealers be able to do this?
Cannon
When will the dealers be able to do this? Not too sure mate. Hopefully soon. The amount of talk going around has created an air of enthusiasm for the proposal
tweedledee
i was told by a member of the gun trade that even if lisnasharragh says it can go ahead,it has to be run through stormont and the judicial system which could take 3-4 years

It would be interesting to hear what BASC have to say on the matter. Would be fantastic if it was to happen soon!
Pastiebap
FEB are also pushing for an increase of the fee to £150. However as far as I am aware, this would have to go through Stormont to change the 2004 order, also would need(?) cross community support to meet the voting rules. tweedledee
will only be down sizing. any increase will be a variation.
