Whitebridges
I ordered a leupold scope off them recently, getting it sent to my brother in lawwho lives in the States, he comes over once a month on business. They would not send it, stating that it could not leave the States. I told them that I was buying it as a gift to my bro in law, and could not guarantee what he would do with it. They weren't having it, & would not send my order! Damn yanks, it was half the price. SS have bought 3 scopes from the states picked the last one up on monday gone, (all bushnells) no probs whatsoever mind you it says "telescope" on the goods declaration, company is arcadian sales spot on to do buisiness with, and the savings compared to our prices is considerable, particularly the top end stuff cheers KW Nice 4-1 win over them Maccams, well done. Anything connected with shooting seems difficult to import. Fishing tackle is totally straightforward. I think the yanks pay much more attention to shooting stuff, probably rightly so. :( :o

Dunkield
I got really psesid off with buying from the states and at the same time, I was after a Nightforce scope, some reloading dies, bullets, Jewel triggers, McMillan stock and stuff. So, I got on a plane to Phoenix, stayed with a cousin for a week, picked up the goods and flew home. I declared all the stuff as I got on the plane and it all went in the hold. I could take the scopes on board but not the stock as "It looks like it might go on a gun". I did get written correspondence from BA saying that they were OK with me doing it - this bit is important 'cos you don't want to be in departures and Mr Jobsworth is being a pain in the ar*e. Landed in the UK with my FAC in my pocket so it's all Kosher, got home and sold 2 Nightforce scopes, 6 Jewel triggers and the stock. Take out the cost of the ticket and I still made 2 grand. Why don't you just go? RTD Now that's the way to do it :( Next time you go can I order a McMillan stock? :o

william
I picked up my nightforce scope by mail from the us I told the yanky tw!t not to put down the true value of the scope on the packaging he aggreed when it came through yep he had put down the true value, and I got hammered £140 import duty well gutted. I still saved about £150. It makes you think though how much our goverment take the **** out of us all when you see how cheap things our overseas. reggie
If you are only after chokes id ask the shop in the states to put em in a large jiffy bag or small box and just put gift on it if they will, Coz i used to work for fedex at stansted airport and some of the stuff that used to come through was well err not a gift but got through no probs, Even had ****loads of proper expensive lifesize machine gun bb guns come through and customs didnt touch them they were more intersted in liquids that were coming over... Just give it a go with "gift" and should be ok....

Why don't you just go? RTD It's amazing what a few drinks and a chat with like minded shooters can produce! We are now planning to go to the States early next year for a shopping trip, so where would anyone who has done this suggest going? I know there is a Bass Pro shop down 'I Drive' in Orlando, but I would really like to go to Cabelas, but none of them seem to be near airports where you could get cheap charter type flights into? http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/template...p*retail_stores Any suggestions welcome, and if we get going I *may* be taking orders from PW members at a later date B)
