Lamping in quiet weather

Hi folks just thought i'd ask a quick question, I've got two goo permissions for rabbit shooting that did well with my silenced .410 when we had a bit wind. Ive got the cz 452 .22lr now but the weather has been really calm so I havn't bothered going out. does everyone else only go out for rabbits when the wind picks up a bit or should I get stuck in on these calm nights. Ps its a couple of golf courses for pest control permission where I really need to keep the numbers down to keep them happy? Could do with advice as I don't really want to end up with loads of even more lamp shy bunnies than they already are.

Its hard work mate its alot easyer with 22 than shot gun we shoot 3 or 4 nites a week any weather other than fog.

You have two options night vision or hmr with longer range so they dont get so jumpy.

But me thinks your better with LR if you can get into range without them running off dont no if your usein a filter IE red.

That helps a bit but seeing as we dont get very many windy nites  you might need some more toys ..swiss

Get yourself out m8. I have mates that only go out in wind and when I phone them up some nights they are like nah not windy enough a could end up waiting a week and not getting any wind so I just go out whenever I like and yeah if im trying to creep up on rabbits and no wind then yeah obviously it's harder but don't let it discourage you I don't. As previously said you might want to apply for a .17 hmr if you haven't already get one and shoot from further back the longer shots make for more fun and are far more impressive. Most of my land now the rabbits have been way way over shot compared to when I got it but keeps the farmer happy and he will have a good harvest and I will be able to keep the land on so win win all-round. Just got the foxes to keep incheck now but I don't like to over shoot them let a few breed and I too will have a good harvest driving the fields and lamping many foxes :)

Well I got myself out with the .22 last night for the first time and enjoyed myself, It was so calm you could hear the fabric of my apparently silent clothing rustling, Not a lot about but gave me a good chance to get used to the cz. Bagged two bunnies missed three. Should have been a better bag but judging range and making sure there was a back stop caused me to hesitate on numerous occasions, and then the lamp battery died on me I'm sure the missus has been using it to walk the dogs this week lol.

I try not to worry about weather I just go when I can i know some folk say you cant shoot charlies on a full moon from a truck set up as they can see so much they know you are coming, but you do have the option to sit in a corner and put some netting out.........

Just go when you can and do your best, one things for sure you wont shoot rabbits sitting in your armchair

Told ya not a total loss hey and at least your out and about instead of sitting in doing nothing. Like PAv said get sat up where there is the most activity and drop a couple then move on if it's really quiet but just goes to show that it does t have to be blowing a gale to get results. I've shot bunnies and foxes in quiet weather.
