Greenhunter
My HMR has no studs and I would like to fit some, as you would! Has anyone done it and are there any pitfalls? I would prefer both studs to be the screw-in type. Any suggestions/tips etc very gratefully received. Thanks GH
oscarsdad
I drilled the synthetic stock on my BSA ultra to move the stud to enable bipod to be fitted-no problems at all. Small pilot hole first then bigger drill for the stud leaving about 0.5mm smaller than the stud thread so it holds.

gixer1
I did similar to the above, but coated the threads with Araldite. as above, also, stick masking tape all over the bit you are drilling as it can slip and mark the stock... malantone
I did similar to the above, but coated the threads with Araldite. Bought a used CZ in Synthetic it had a stud that had stripped it`s thread,I just filled the hole with Araldite and put the stud back, never had a problem with it since
Greenhunter
Thanks gents It seems that the only way is to go for it! What's the worst that can happen..... GH
CZ550Kevlar
Synthetic stocks are alot more forgiving than wood, if you make a slight mistake in hole size it is very easy to use either clear araldite to secure or you can get black two part resin glues which just look like plastic when used in the hole. Devon Fox
I am for ever repairing My Tikka now (factory fitted stud), stud keeps pulling out, just re-fixed it with Arraldyte, if it pulls out this time I am going to re-drill 2 holes and have the pod and sling on seperate qd studs. I am always worrying about the stud - if it gives and damages my S&B I would be gutted
humperdingle
I fitted them to a Ruger 10/22 synthetic stock using QD studs with a metric thread instead of screw-type. Used Ny-loc nuts on them to hold nice and tight.
