wymberley
My mate wears macwets when weather is cold because he suffers from vibration white finger and loses feeling in his fingers when his hands get cold. I only wear them if it is really cold(MacWet again - good grip, important if you can't feel the gun as well as you can with bare hands). Yep, it's a ****** and made worse when shooting SbS so I use Gripswell.

Thunderbird
It's the same old argument about not handicapping yourself unnecessarily. I'm not sure I would use gloves for 'grip' but one place I shoot near the coast has some killer wind chill in the winter. No point in not being able to feel your hands when they're what you use to hold the gun..

Asa Bear
I was advised to buy some gloves after recently buying my first gun. After my puzzled expression it was explained to me that grease from your fingertips is highly corrosive to the barrels. I didn't buy any but do wipe the barrels down regularly. Stark
It's also worth mentioning that newish guns and guns that recently have had stock modifications can become very greasy and slippery when it's warm because the oils start to come out of the wood.
