Blunderbuss
For bunny bashing, not stalking. The grass is currently too long to shoot off the bipod in most places I shoot, and my offhand shooting ain't what it used to be Occasionally I can brace on a tree or fence post, but I fancy having a go at shooting off sticks. I know you can make them cheaply from broom handles, washing line poles or whatever, but I don't want to go down that route Been there before with pigeon hide poles - fine as a stop gap, but you eventually end up buying purpose built. I'm after a well made, strong and lightweight pair of bipod type poles. Telescopic if possible and ideally not too expensive, but I'd rather pay a bit more if necessary than having to replace some old tat. Any recommendations? Shropshire_Lad
Lol, been using old tat for years, still going strong! Shooting off sticks, bought or home made realy opens up some shooting chances at this time of year for Rabbits. What ever you go for you won't regret it. atvb Paul. Redgum
Bought some cheap ones off fleabay three yrs ago, round £18 I think, they are not the strongest things in the world and have been fixed a few times. Still going strong apart from the few tweeks and sturdy enough for a 700 remmy, hogue stock and P8 Mod.

bigjohn
Not actually answering your question, but I picked up an Harris bipod, that goes up to 27", the other day. I can sit uprght(ish), and shoot, well above the tops of the majority of grass. You're welcome to borrow it, to try it out.

bigjohn
Like you'd imagine a windswept field, being hit by the odd shower, to be... Still better than your experience on the same day, I'm guessing?
Blunderbuss
After my Fawlty Towers experience, things did look up a bit. Your comment about it being a dark day when you wish you were in wales made me proper laugh out loud
Colster
I bought some boss-snipe ones at a game fair, about £30. I bought primarily for use while deer stalking but actually they've had more use along with some hide poles, chair and a stealth net while shooting bunnies over long grass. Had some very good results and well worth the money.
ollie
Have a look at the Stoney Point range of shooting sticks. They are very light and compact, I have had mine for about a year without any hiccups.
artschool
Just buy 2 garden sticks from bandq with a rubber strap. Fully adjustable and cheap as chips. There was a deer stalker using a pair on the front of shooting times the other week.

Blunderbuss
Thanks for all the useful feedback guys, it's prompted some googling research and I'm leaning towards the XM3i or Stoney Point
ollie
http://www.midwayuk.com/apps/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?SaleItemID=384172 These are the ones I have got, or shall I say I told my missus to get me . They are worth the money if you look after them and don't leave them lying in a ditch.
