Redgum
I agree with you entirely but I specifically wasn't wanting to bring ethics into it, just wondered if it was possible, as I say, I know nothing about the little stuff.. Its a very small bullet vipa, 17grains with .17dia, it relies on its speed, around 2550fps at muzzle for the flat shooting trajectory but after 150yds and not being able to hold amass of energy it starts to fall away pretty quick. Don't get me wrong, its a cracking little round for a rimfire and great fun, I have it down on my license for fox but I have only used it for them at closer ranges. The round does carry alot of hype though with many claims of 200/300 fox's but I would like to see that(or not as the case may be) to believe it. wymberley
He's probably about to tell us we're talking ********... that's ok... he can go visit the NRA results pages... I have no need whatsoever to exaggerate my shooting capabilities. There are a few people on here who could outshoot me with their eyes shut.. One in particular who I was down at Bisley with who is GB team standard.... Congrats on all the medals Andy... your performance on the McQueen was still **** though I'll let you use my rifle next year :yp: Well, if you insist, you're talking ********. Two reasons for saying that: Firstly, I don't know where you've been but I thought for a minute that we may be heading back to the 243 & 200 yard zero saga. (If you're not with me, see about 1/2 way down Page 3 of B,C and Reloading.) However, hopefully it looks as though I'm wrong. Secondly, as I couldn't hit a rabbit at anything passed 200 and probably a fox (killing shot) similarly at 300 yards and as I had the pleasure of making the targets for one of the finest marksman that I've ever seen (the Queen's Medal was fast becoming an annual monotony), I don't need too much telling what is and what is not possible for a good man with a good rifle and consequently I stand in awe of that capability. No, No one talks ******** here, but some just speak before the testosterone spike has subsided and some confuse the ethics of target shooting with those that apply to live quarry. (That is a generalization, by the way.)

I too am in awe of the guys in the silly jackets, wearing the silly gloves with diopters and no optics putting in v-bull after v-bull at 1000 yards! Ian750
it does not do very well in wind cause its so light we had about 15 mph cross wind and it was moving it left by about 6" at 160yrds, 300 yrds is possable as i have just over that but took a few shoots to get it, killed out right Is this for real??? Lets all just shoot at ridiculous ranges and sod whether we wound our quarry! Sorry mate but in my opinion this is disgraceful.

daz2202
Just took me 20 mins to read this whole thread. Entertaining it has been. My gun of choice is my hmr and I consider myself a Competent and good shot with it. Furthest rabbits i have shot are around 180 yards in near perfect conditions and furthest fox was 105 yards. The hmr is a very capable gun but I think people have forgotten it's capabilities, if you want longer reange shooting why not just get a bigger gun! highseas
no your not just one more test........anal exam
jasper3
your free to go young man well !!! after the anel exam there are a few grey area's in the world of shooting, one is if you shoot someone else's gun, they should be the landowner, and not your mates gun who has just got the permission..I will stand corrected on this, as I say its a bit of a grey area, so when you said there were plenty of rabits to shoot down at sandybay, a few alarm bells started ringing, knowing the landowner wouldn't let you shoot... On the 275 yd bunny shot, maybe you did or didn't, either way its a shot that most will find to be disrespectful to the quarry, as this sort of shot with that cal of rifle could end up injuring instead of killing, and you would take longer to dispatch the animal.... Not the best thing to write on an open forum... so you see ! when appliying for a FAC, and you want to ask questions, its better to come over as whiter than white instead of someone who is telling the world they can take out rabits at a distance that most of us wouldn't try when shooting an animal for the table, or dispatching a fox..it should be one shot...Bang, dead , not 7 shots, we need to be seen to respect our quarry and sport there are so many good people on here with bags of experience, and they will tell you what you need to know, tell them your some sort of sharp shooter and they will tell you nothing
SSS
So, It's late, and I have been digging and I apologise for digging this one up, but did you ever get your FAC?
