Nial
As elsewhere I cracked the stock on my HW95K and have been checking the zero when I'd fixed it and bolted it all back together. It's shooting _very_ high, even with the adjustment at the limits. I suspect the scope mounts, they came with a couple of threads nearly stripped and missing a couple of allen bolts, so want to get a new one. The scope's an AGS 3-9x50 which I'm happy with for the ranges involved. I presume I'm better with a one piece mount on a springer rather than a pair of rings? Can anyone recommend a solid, cheap mount (in that order)? Thanks for any pointers, Nial. Edited June 10, 2011 by Nial
Tiger955i
HI Mate If the problem is your mounts you wont go far wrong with Sportsmatch one piece mounts. Not the cheapest but pretty good. ATB

I can't remember the tube diameter on my scope but Optics warehouse have a 1" at £25 which isn't too bad.[/Edit] I suppose it's not that much if they last a lifetime, but are there any cheaper alternatives? Tiger955i
HI Mate Any time:-) There is a good tackle shop in Armadale (not too far away) called Livelines Tackle. Call Scott and he should be able to help you out. Apologies If mentioning shops names is not allowed and I have no connection to the business other than being a satisfied customer. Dekers
It's a HW95, don't get your knickers in a twist, single or double should not be a problem, and you don't have to spend a fortune, £15-£25 area should give you results. Everyone knows someone who has problem stories with mounts, but technology moves a pace, even CHEAP mounts are far better engineered now than just a few years back. Possibly best, although not necessarily true, to avoid the cheapest you can buy, but no need to spend a fortune!

Nial
Get a good set of mounts and Sportsmatch are excellent! I ended up phoning Mains of Haddington to ask if they had any one piece mounts in stock (they're only 20 mins away). After some delay and sounds in the background they came back to say they'd found one in a drawer. This place is an old family run shooting/ equestrian / hardware shop you don't see many of any more. I headed down expecting it not to be great but it was a Sportsmatch adjustable. It was in an old dusty wrapper priced at £35. The guy said "That can't be right", pulled the price off and charged me £20! It's on the air-rifle and doing a good job, things are properly zero'd again. Nial. Spanishfly
One piece mounts are a better engineering solution - the contact area between the mount and dovetail is much larger than with a two piece, and there is a much smaller bending moment exerted at the joint. I currently have a Hawke one piece (not the dearest or cheapest) with an arrestor pin on my HW97K - it is absolutely rock solid.
