Gnome of the Woods
Although I have already met a number of good people and a couple of dodgy one's on here. My question is can I just rock up at a clay shoot and "tag" along with anybody willing to have me? Is this a done thing or is it frowned upon? I would like to give the new stick ago and Lea Valley have a late night on a Thursday but I do not know anybody who goes there! Paul
phaedra1106
Best way is to phone or email them and ask, as long as they have section 11(6) cover then you should be fine
mossy835
i would just go there and ask if you can have a go,
cant hit rabbits 123
At my Clay shooting club, any SGC holder can turn up and shoot with anyone that will have them, wich is most people! If its a non SGC holder, then the chairman takes them round for the first few times then hands them over to an experienced group of shooters. Not frowned upon at all where I am! garjo
Never been to Lea Valley on Thurs nights but know people who do - understand its friendly - might be best to give them a call or better still spaek to Ken Rist who oargainses the shoot - hes alright . Understnad your dilemma and on some of the shoots I go to you sometimes you see blokes on their own - my experience is that people are friendly and often more than willing to let peopel tag along or act as button pusher. HDAV
OR find somewhere with a "claymate" that way you don't need a button pusher
Gnome of the Woods
I have emailed the contact on the website so will wait and see! On the limited number of shoots I have been on, everybody has been very friendly.
ste12b
I would just turn up, I have met some greater people by doing that. As you already have your own gun it should not be a problem.

Vipa
Best way is to phone or email them and ask, as long as they have section 11(6) cover then you should be fine Why would they need section 11 cover he already has a SGC and his own gun
phaedra1106
Why would they need section 11 cover he already has a SGC and his own gun That's because I didn't realise he had his SGC, having re-read his post I assume the "new stick" is a shotgun. Spara Dritto
of course! I often shoot alone as I work shifts and go when I can... The mrs sometimes comes along or the brother.. I love meeting new people and learning something new. If you've got a license go for it!
