snipper
the only one i would recommend if using on live quarry(at close quarters) would be the weihrauch HW45 http://www.airgunbuyer.com/Showproducts.asp?cat=Pistols&SubCat=Spring Pistols
Edward
I have a crosman 2240 brand new £80 and has enough poke to dispatch a squirrel and its fun enough for light plinking and is almost endlessly tweak able with various upgrades and tat My 2240 with a ratty stock, hw silencer and a lil simmons scope
Gnome of the Woods
Most air pistols run about 3/4ftlbs, the FX range run close to the limit of 6ft/lbs
chrispti
I had a Walther CP99, Co2 pistol in .177. Had a lazer on it, zeroed at 15 yrds. Used to use it for clearing ferral pigeons out of farm sheds etc, did the job perfectly Also good fun plinking in the garden

Dekers
i have been looking for an air pistol but i have no experince of them what so ever i was just putting me fealers out to see iff anyone has got a good one they could recomend i just want one for plinking and abit of ratting..just some fun lol... and whats the power like i have shotgun, air guns,17hmrand 22lr so it is just purly for some fun and i dont minde spending a few quid on geting a good one.thanks dan I can't help thinking that is 2 different statements. For back garden plinking and Coke can shooting almost anything can bring a grin. For quarry work, even rats, some respect must be in order, therefore cost is likely to rise, as someone else said most pistols are 3-4ft lb, that will do a rat for sure (if you can hit it) but consider a decent pistol as close to 6ft lb as you can find if you intend live quarry! bruno22rf
Avoid the newer Crossmans like the plague-they have plastic breach blocks and are poor quality being knocked together in Mexico-despite stating "made in the usa" on the body.Have a look on the Airgun bbs if you really want one as theres a couple of lads on there that rebuild/tune the earlier models-or simply buy the superior HW45. Simply Simon
Hi, I happen to have a lovely HW45 .177 Silver Star which would fit the bill perfectly. Two power levels; 1/2 cock = approx 3ftlb, full cock = approx 5.5 ftlb and it looks stunning too. See here: http://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/index.php?/topic/169836-weihrauch-hw45/page__gopid__1439484#entry1439484 Thanks for the heads up mfletch.
