What a friendly forum this is!!

Really hope it comes soon as they will be starting combining in the next 3 weeks!

You think?

Try starting a thread with one of these;

Hare's with an air rifle?

Pheasants with 7.5's?

Shot 250 yard fox running?

Should I shoot my dog?

Can you shoot a bull with a shotgun?

And it will be tin hat time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lol!! I'm just a worrier, he said at the visit he would write to my gp. My personal view is that there had been no checks prior to him coming out.

I just hate the fact that I know I'm the model 'shooter' and responsible enough, with no reasons not to have one, but they wield the hammer if you catch my drift

He did say that they would write to my gp, I went and told her after the feo left to be expecting a letter.

What would they have to verify andy33? I mean if they already knew everything, that's what I don't get lol!!

They'll just check that you have no suicidal tendencies or you're not about to kill anybody else, discuss the application with your gp, as long as your honest you'll have no problems,

Don't worry :good:

Hare's with an air rifle? Yes but only with logun penetrators.

Pheasants with 7.5's?killing pets is cruel.

Shot 250 yard fox running? Only if it has a gammy leg and you mistake it for a deer.

Should I shoot my dog? Yes, but only in front of members of the public.

Can you shoot a bull with a shotgun? Yes if you are brave and have a red cloak as back up.

One of my stables had a ratting cat, reached the age of 22 and spent its life sleeping on a cushion with the rats running by and giving it the proverbial 2 fingers...the owner asked if I could deal with the cat!!!!!:yes::yes:

Now there another topic for you!

Actually perhaps a poll...what do you think I said/did?

Adopted it and cared for it gently till the end of its days, feeding it on sauteed livers of freshly shot woodcock and larks tongues? Edited by Blunderbuss

Hmm, I did discuss with gp before applying and she said 'well your alright now arent you?' I said yes, and she typed something onto my records and said 'well then it's ok isn't it'

At one point when I was really really low I may have said I had THOUGHT about suicide, but Ive never been sectioned, nor ave I ever attempted, saw a woman who helped me realise my problems, I got over it really quickly only saw her once. Never seen a shrink etc etc

I let things get on top of me, I know how I ended up feeling so low and doubt I'll ever be back there, I'm married, have a good job and two young babies, not to mention I repair hight speed high voltage manufacturing equipment for a living so if I can do that safely.....etc

When I applied for my SGC it took 8 weeks longer than my wife's. This was because I put on the form treated for depression and I had been medicated for 6 months, the depression was due to Primary Hyperparathyroidism (you try saying that after one to many) anyway lucky for me the Firearms Officer had a close friend who had, had the same illness and understood the depression was one of the symptoms of PH and not the illness. Anyway I got my SGC but just took a bit longer, you will be ok.

I just rang up the licensing Dept to ask what the likelihood of me receiving my application within the prescribed 3 weeks suggested by the feo as there us a game fair near me on the 9th of July and there will be a lot of special offers on guns and cartridges and would need to put a holiday in at work to go.

She told me little chance as initial grants take 8 weeks.

I asked what the current Status of my application was and was told it is with a supervisor for review of the information supplied at the meeting/interview before 'checks' are carried out. *** does that mean??

I was polite and said ' no problem I'm sure I'll be able to go to another fair, I'll sit tight and wait'

I just found out that a relative of mine who I don't really know/speak to (saying that, I went to their wedding!) is a senior member of firearms licensing in a neighbouring police force, do you think I should give her a call?

Anyone had their doctor contacted then?

They are talking to mine now over renewal, had a bit of tough time a year after I left Army and ended up seeing a shrink for a short time. All done and dusted 3 years ago and all is chipper now so I am assuming (hoping?) all will be well. I would be worried if they didnt want to check out thses things to be honest.

Good luck

Probably not to be honest.Your particular force might not appreciate another areas firearms dept trying to speed up your application and might make you appear to be pushy. If you've had the interview its pretty much in the bag and just a waiting game.

Yea, stupid suggestion really. I've heard if someone in my village recently being refused twice, they didn't even have a point on their licence, but their dad and brother are complete nutters (no jail time I dont think, maybe some for the dad years ago) I think his dad may live with him like

Update, police faxed letter to gp thursday, gp replied straight away saying no problems now and that I would pose no risk whatsoever owning a shotgun.

Start the bets then, when do you think my licence will come?!

Please please be this week lol!!
