jhrg
Roll on shooting over pea stubble: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-humber-13874432 it's been frustrating over peas the last few weeks because so many birds have been impossible to pick. fuzzypigeon
I drove down the a180 this morning to see 3 fields being harvested at 6:30 then when I drove back past at 16:00 two of the fields were covered in blackies

motty
They started harvesting round me over a week ago. Still got about 80 fields left to go. As tom said, cereal crops will become the major draw very shortly. Edited June 23, 2011 by motty
al4x
Its an interesting year, round us the cereals are so thin they can drop in anywhere. Barley seems to be being hit in places especially by black stuff, but so much food about they are well spread out
Mightymariner
Some harvested here. Out yesterday, but quite tricky as three fields together and birds weren't committed to one place. I set up next to the busiest flightline, used my vehicle as a scarer in one field and put a banger rope in the other. Kinda worked, picked 23. Loads about but it is very hard to pin them down, I decided against moving as I thought I would be chasing them all day, so stayed put, used floaters and the whirly later and it seemed to work, they came in fits and starts. Will try again next week.
