How to clean a Barbour

I wouldn't put it in a washing machine, wash it outside with mild warm soapy water then allow to dry fully. Stand the tin of barbour waxproof in hot water to soften & then reproof it. Quick once over with hairdryer, jobs a goodun. Don't sit anywhere you don't want to leave a waxy print for a few days ( or weeks if you've been really heavy handed with the wax.)

Back in the late 70's and early 80's I had to commute by train into London. I used to get on the train when it was almost full and the only seats available were those usually in the middle of a row of three seats. The inner and outer seats were always taken by blokes usually reading The Times who wanted to spread themselves across all three and hope no-one would have the temerity to try and squeeze between them. It used to annoy me no end but my trusty waxed Barbour Northumbria along with my broad shoulders always managed to get them to budge up, especially if the Barbour had been newly waxed as they didn't want their suits sullied by my dear old dirty, much loved, Barbour. Happy days

Excellent idea! There's no change now either - no one will budge an inch unless you tell them to. I may have just found a new use for mine :yp:
