Brad93
Hi all sorry for all the questions lol Im applying for .22LR and .17HMR on my FAC application; and I've put reasons as rabbits, and long range rabbits and corvids respectively. Also I've Put 750 to hold on both and 500 to buy Does that seem reasonable as I've heard you need to buy in quantity like with shottie carts to get any sort of bulk discount - sorted 600 to hold 500 to buy i dont think im gonna be getting through them too quickly Also I got my sgc a little over a year ago should I apply for a coterminous? However at my FEO visit two weeks ago i was told that Derbyshire only allow hold 600 buy 500 for rimfire (target shooter allowed to buy 1000 apparently). When you have your FEO visit do not mention bulk buy as a reason for buy figures as the Home Office guidance specifically says that bulk buy is not sufficient justification for larger buy numbers. Brad93
Cheers for the recommendations people completely forgot about moderators :0 okay will change the amount to hold With moderators do I put them in another slot or can I just put them in the same slot? Also with expanding ammo is all .22 and .17hmr ammo nit expanding? So I would put .22 expanding, .17 expanding all sorted Regrds Edited June 24, 2011 by Brad93
steve_b_wales
You should put vermin control down. Putting rabbits/corvids technically means that you cannot legally shoot squirrels, rats etc. Moderators are classed as firearms, so need to added in another slot. ie (1).22LR (2) .17 HMR (3).17 HMR Moderator (4).22LR Moderator
Brad93
Right ive sorted out the hold/purchase slots with expanding ammunition, and ive sorted out the rifles and mods in separate slots. What would be a legitimate reason for a moderator on both 22lr and 17hmr and also under the type of rifle should i put "sporting rifle" or something like "sporting bolt action rile" Regards Brad p.s. sorry for all the questions lol Edited June 24, 2011 by Brad93
Billy.
I'd go 500/1000 It's easier to buy bricks then.

Ross Exactly correct, this has NOTHING to do with any justification for a number to buy/hold. The Police/Home Office have no interest in your personal finances and are not in the business of making life convenient or cheaper for you! I have heard suggestion on forums that some regions do actually accept this reason though, mine does not!
Billy.
I have heard suggestion on forums that some regions do actually accept this reason though, mine does not! Mine are fine with bulk. I called them up and said I wanted to up my C/F amounts, due to prices and they had my adjusted FAC back to me on the same day.

Certainly not on first application, perhaps at a later date if you want multiples in any calibre, etc! Brad93
Right im pretty much almost there with the application side of things - just gotta get a few signatures from referress and give them their forms to send back to the police. So for a reason for a sound moderator should i put Health and Safety or also put to avoid spooking local livestock or the pests etc Many thanks again Regards
steve_b_wales
It's strange how police forces around the country, vary their condition on how much ammunition you are allowed to buy/hold. I can hold 1500 .22LR and purchase 1000. Whether this is because I have been used a .22LR for over 20 years, and in this time have purchased many 1000's of rounds, I don't know. I can also buy 500 17HMR and hold 750. My centrefire ammunition conditions are similar too. Steve.

Billy.
Since when did you need to give an individual reason for a sound mod?! .22LR | Rifle + Sound Mod | Vermin Shooting | Address of landowner Edited June 24, 2011 by Billy. Brad93
Oh well I'm only applying for two rifles so with separate mod slots it only takes up four slots. Yeah I've jut gotta get the permissions in writing and get more land (Y)
Dekers
Since when did you need to give an individual reason for a sound mod?! .22LR | Rifle + Sound Mod | Vermin Shooting | Address of landowner You are obviously a youngster, 40 years ago, if you could ever find a mod you would have to give the FEO a ******* before he would consider it. 20 years ago mods were easier to find but you had to get down on your knees again, but usually just begging did the trick. The story goes that someone applied for a mod on H&S grounds around 15 years ago and was refused, he promptly responded to the refusal suggesting any hearing loss to him or anyone else caused by the refusal would result in a law suit and compensation claim against the force. Since then H&S generally has them s******* themselves and getting a mod these days is pretty easy!
