chewyjack.22
Just a quickie guy's, a mate of mine is going to apply for his sgc but does'nt want to install a cabinet in his flat, lets just say there is a few people living about the area who he does'nt trust (i.e druggies who would rob their mothers). Is it possible for him to share my cabinet? does anyone know what the law is on this? Thanks in advance, colin
beatingisbest
Its ok, its on the application for the SGC, you just have to give details of the person whos cabinet it is.
mickymiroku
no problem, he just needs to give your address on his aplication in the box where it asks where gun is to be stored, when he gets his visit , they wont even look at his place, knowing his gun will be stored at yours.regards mick. Lord Geordie
The guns have to be endorsed on BOTH your certs All HIS guns have to go on YOUR cert and all YOUR guns on HIS cert LG

Lord Geordie
Yes i am sure the fact is YOU also have access to the guns that belong to him as YOU have a key to the cabinet and vice versa I know because my Mate his Wife and his Dad all had to as THEY share a cabinet and they were told ALL of them had to have ALL of the guns on their cert. Also if YOU have a Section 1 gun in the cabinet and HE hasn't got a FAC i think you will find you won't be allowed to share unless you make alternative arrangements for the Section 1 firearm as again him having a key he has access:/ The only thing i caould think to get round this is for YOU to keep the keys and not allow him (personal access) to the cabinet. What i mean is YOU get the gun out for him. LG Edited April 14, 2006 by Lord Geordie
mossy835
if i were you i would get another cabinet and put the sec 1 in it ,then you can both have the key for the shotguns.

chewyjack.22
It would be easier if you didnt let him have access to the cabinet then your guns wont need to go on his cert. If you have firearms in the cabinet he wont be allowed access anyway. Also if the cabinet is at your house then you'll be there when he gets the guns out surely, so you can get them out for him and hand them over to him and lock them up when hes finished. Spot on george, we shoot together anyway so i think the him having no access is the way we are going to go

Gemini
My son shared my cabinet when he lived elsewhere and I had to have a “Sharing” facility put on my ticket. This meant putting his guns on my ticket as I had access to them. He didn’t have access to the cabinet so he didn’t have to have my guns on his ticket. When he came back home to live I had to inform the police and my rifles had to go onto his ticket. This then caused a problem with the shotguns, because he didn’t have a SGC. This was solved by putting a chain through the trigger guards of the shotguns and locking them to a hasp fixed to the back of the cabinet. :o :( All bloody troublesome until the powers-that-be decided to move the political boundaries and I found myself being moved 100yds over boundary from West Mercia into West Midlands. The West Midlands FEO was happy enough to let us have each others rifles on ticket, and as I was the only one with the keys to the cabinet, he took a more common-sense approach to the shoguns. G.M. Kenzie
I share a safe,it,s ok untill you get your renewall, and then i becomes a pain in the ***
Sergeant
Well I was going to share my Fathers safe but as he only as a SGC and I wass only applying for a FAC the FEO wouldnt let me so now there are two cabinets... much more simple. wont have to worry about getting a cabinet if i move away and neither do i have to worry about him going off with my guns while im on hols etc. IMHO a separate safe is the way to go.
