Beardo
first advice would be - put your thread in the reloading section not pigeon shooting (i've done it now)
Ackley
hi all . looking to start reloading for my .243 any addvice like how do i go on with fac , best type of equipment . thanks in advance jon the best advice is start as you mean to go on,basically buy good kit first time around, yes it will cost more but will last and be nicer to work with, you get people telling you to buy LEE,its garbage mate stay well away, take a look around the shooting sites there is often good gear for sale as to "how do I go on with FAC" I presume you mean what do i need to do,basically nothing hand your FASC to your RFD and they will enter the bullet heads onto your FAC,job done as to what to buy first I need to know what you intend to use the rifle for, also if you know anyone who reloads ask if you can take a look how they do it or buy a book, persoanlly being shown provided its the correct way is best
Redgum
You can start with a good reloading manual, I have the lee reloading 2nd addition and its as good as any base to start.Look out for secondhand kit on flea bay and here, you never know whats going to pop up. I started with the lee four turret press kit, had most of what I needed, you will need some dies, I, once again opted for lee stuff, the deluxe die set. The only piece of lee kit I didnt like was their scales that came in the kit. I invested £90 and got rcbs, well worth it. As for loading data, there is so much available on the net along with whats in the lee manual. It doesnt suit everyone, you can usually reload more accurate and cheaper ammo than the factory stuff but you will use alot more testing and generally playing around with differant combinations. Personally, I love it.
Luckyshot
Same as Redgum I also use Lee gear apart from the scales as they are ****. It may not be the best of gear but depending on your budget and how much you use your rifle they are quite adiquite. My reloading bench. And a 3 shot group made with Lee equipment. May not be the best group, but I have seen alot worse. Edited June 29, 2011 by Luckyshot
Bewsher500
why are you reloading? cost? or bench rest accuracy? I do it for cost. couldn't give a monkeys if my shots touch, never did with factory and that was good enough for 20 years of stalking so why is it so important now!? bought myslef a Lee classic and some bits and bobs for £50. shooting 12 groups at 130yds for 30p a shot instead of £1.20! dont get bogged down in the search for single hole groups! wymberley
Providing you don't wish to replace the camel and the eye of a needle scenario with that of a 50gr V Max and a gnat's rectum, I'm absolutely positive if you say where you are and provided it's nowhere outlandish, someone will be only too happy to show you the ropes. al4x
start the way you mean to go on, as you can see some of the Lee users already have bought two sets of scales and it gets like that as you slowly replace the gear with decent stuff and personally I'd shoot factory rather than use any reloading gear that required the use of a club hammer I imported an RCBS rockchucker kit from the states saved about £100 on buying it here and it has most of what you need. The gear itself is a purchase to last you as long as you shoot so really you might as well bite the bullet early. It makes life far easier having a decent setup as I hardly have to think about consistency it just happens even though everything is double checked
njc110381
My reloading bench. I really like the racking that you have set up at the back. My reloading bench is a mess so I think I might copy that! What a great idea! and personally I'd shoot factory rather than use any reloading gear that required the use of a club hammer Let's not talk about the range day when I beat a chap with an AI sniper rifle rifle. I was using ammo loaded with a Lee Loader through a Tikka T3. It works for people on a budget. A press is easier, a lot easier in fact, but it's not better. al4x
Better is a difficult term, if like me you like your fingers and dislike the idea of hitting live ammo with a club hammer then indeed it is better

Bewsher500
Better is a difficult term, if like me you like your fingers and dislike the idea of hitting live ammo with a club hammer then indeed it is better cant find any record of any Lee Loader users setting off live rounds with a hammer. I can find several incidences of people using kinetic hammers to pull bullets having them go off. I have two for two calibers now. for budget reloaders looking to produce cheaper than factory and still get excellent results they are hard to beat. Makes me clench my buttocks when i pull 303 rounds.
