Harryrab
Thanks guys, will look out for a cheper one. Am i better to go new or second hand? HR
proTOM1
I would say if your planning on using it much then go for a new one then if something goes wrong you can get it sorted (in most cases)
goose basher
always find mine works best between hide and patten about 15 yds out, if you watch feeding birds they are more often than not jumping forward of the flock to feed also you need approx 6 floaters and a turbo flapper for good measure
UKPoacher
Well, there you have it. Put it at the front, middle, side or back. All guaranteed to pull pigeons in.
Gutty Boots
Remember, it's not the rotary that's essential, it's adding some kind of movement to your pattern.

You're joking, surely?
goose basher
no joke if you put them up approaching 1 side of the whirly with flapper in front of them will take vid on phone next time just to show how good it works
motty
no joke if you put them up approaching 1 side of the whirly with flapper in front of them will take vid on phone next time just to show how good it works Ok. In that case, why do you NEED them?

proTOM1
Movement isn't essential in a decoy pattern. But it does help in most cases
Cranfield
Movement isn't essential in a decoy pattern. It is natural for birds feeding to be moving and you want to present a natural picture for incoming birds. Also movement that rotarys and floater/bouncers provide can catch the eye of birds from a great distance, especially when the crops are high. So I also think it definitely helps. Now, too much movement can also be a problem.
Bluebarrels
I would say a magnet/rotary can turn a average day into a good day in most cases especially when used with Hyper-flaps ive seen pigeons turn into the pattern from a couple of fields away, this is due to movement from the hyper-flaps on the rotary and commit 100% So movement in your pattern is not necessary, but i think it can only improve your chances of getting birds in BB
Mightymariner
I agree. Today I wouldn't have shot anything without the magnet, placed above some rape, it made birds come straight in and past me.
Uncle Albert
Hi guys, as a yound shooter l8iving on a farm i am hoping to get alot of pigeon shooting at harvest, over the stubbles . I have 10 deocys and a hide etc. I amm wandering about getting a rotary machine, however they seenm quite expensive , is it really worth it? Does anyone know of a cheap machine for sale anywhere? Cheers HR I use one and they deffinately pull the birds in. I use mine with Air-Pro flappers on. They work but are pricey. If you live on a farm then I assume you have a welder somewhere around. Nip down the scrapyard and get hold of a windscreen wiper motor and you should be able to rig one up. Good luck!

Redditch
A lot of people seem to place the magnet TOO NEAR to the main pattern. It´s only there to draw the pigeons attention, and get them interested enough to see the main pattern and fly into that. Place it further away from the main pattern, and you may have more success.
