Benellimelody
Well, this year my shooting just isnt improving and if anything dropping off and a lot worse than last year. I want to enter some more little comps but think a lesson is needed to get me back on track. I contacted J Marshs in view of getting a lesson with Ian Meadley but they seem a bit busy with fairs/comps so any other suggestions, preferably Co. Durham but will travel a bit if i think worthwhile. Also any tips on 20yrd rabbits crossing Thanks Edited July 5, 2011 by Benellimelody
100milesaway
Learners usually hit rabbits, thats because they normally do not give them any lead. Most rabbits dont want much lead especially if that close, as due to the fact that they are on the ground they are slowed down anyway. from Auntie. Salopian
Have a look here www.shootinginstructors.co.uk. Kelvin Pettitt is up that way. Rabbits, use your barrels and eyesight as though you are walking the dog on a Lead, put barrels on rabbit early run along with it and pull through, DON'T shoot over the top. Benellimelody
Thanks for the replies Think i have been giving the rabbits a bit too much. Blackpool is a bit far but the other options look hopeful. I cant believe how many coaches are on the BASC Site Are they any good? I am George Digweed but not a beginner either so can they all teach all levels?

paulos
Yes they can coach at all levels. I'd give BASC a swerve, IMHO.

bakerboy
depends what you call levels I mean they can coach at the level required for novices and the level required for experienced shooters who need assistance. Naturally you would have to choose a coach to the standard you require, and ask around your local area for recommendations. A lot of BASC coaches are also CPSA coaches. The best coaches come with recommendation, and these are the coaches you should choose from. I notice you list a coaching website on your profile, maybe you could be a little more specific with what to look for, to assist Benellimelody in the search to improve his shooting. beretta
he needs to find a reputable shooting coach local to him who people recomend. CPSA, BASC, APSI its his decision which and to what standard he wants them to coach at regarding his ability already.
Benellimelody
I'd give BASC a swerve, IMHO. Any particular reason why?
Benellimelody
Does anybody have any experience with coaching from the guys at BASC and if so any feedback and names? For clarity and more info to help my responses - I shoot trap (Ball, DTL)and sporting as well as lots of game and vermin. I have been shooting about 10 years or so but the last 2 only have been clays. The shoots i attend are not CPSA regsitered but that might change if i get a little better. I generally shoot around 20 out of 25 dtl single barrel and maybe highteens on ball trap (out of 25 full use of gun.) My sporting is generally around 75% but not sure how the stands compare to some other grounds. I was shooting better than this last year and its doing my head in as have been practising more - thus the need for a little guidance but i am not wanting a wasteful patronising lesson therefore some advice on coaching options for what i would call the experienced but average shooter although some may disagree. Thanks in advance for the responses Edited July 7, 2011 by Benellimelody

peter-peter
A 20 yard out straight crossing rabbit needs a minimum of 3 foot lead shoot at its feet and keep the gun moving with your body. if you shoot skeet think of stand four the lead is the same. Rabbits are my favourite targets and I dont miss many.
EdSolomons
Go on recommendation and someone who has actually achieved results. Your already shooting to a reasonable level and many cpsa/basc club coaches won't be able to take you further. Ask around, have a chat to a few and choose accordingly.
