cant hit rabbits 123
Evening chaps, I had an idea while cleaning the guns today, how many people just give the barrels in their semi the once over then back in the cabinet? I always clean the auto thouroughly, and once a month clean it more than so. Same with the O/U as well. How many people can really be bothered with a throurough clean? Then I thought, I wonder how many people would pay a small charge to have their gun cleaned very well say a couple of times a year? Whats the general concensus on here? Any opinions? Another thought, (Sorry chaps, I seem to think alot. Maybe I should shoot more ) could I combine such a service as above with a parts fitting and minor repairs service. Again, any thoughts welcome. Many thanks
BerettaSV10
For me I aways try to clean the gun after use, did have problems getting the barreels clean on one gun, spoke to the gun shop and bought a chamber brush, problem solved. Though dare say some will pay to have their gun/s cleaned.
Beretta28g
You would have to become a RFD(Registered Firearms Dealer) and consequently have a lot of paperwork and cost involved. Dont know if it would be worth it.
pegasus bridge
you would be looking at those quite local to you to avoid the cost of delivery/collection, i would be surprised if many would pay. i think you would do better to turn up at a higher end game shoot and do a few in one go at the end of the day, you might make a bit that way ? cant hit rabbits 123
I was thinking more on the basis of buying an extra 5 gun cabinet for 'customer' guns only, limiting myself to that many at a time and work on the basis of temporarily borrowing the gun (ie; 72 hours without requiring transfer) with them either picking it up or me dropping off. If I stick to only 5 guns, the work could all be done by monday evening if I collected them after a morning on the clays, worked most of sunday afternoon and monday eveing, with collection or delivery tuesday evening. Good plan Mr Bridge. Edited July 10, 2011 by cant hit rabbits
activeviii
the problem i find is it dont take a lot to make a semiauto dirty. i cleaned mine last week. sonic cleaned the trigger mech and all the small parts. i bore scrubbed and oily tooth brush the hard to get bits. then load with WD40 and then blow it all off with the air compressor before light oil as reassembling. went out yesterday and shot 150 cart, the gun looks just the same as it did before i deep cleaned. glad i only do it if it rains.... ... oh ****** it rained yesterday

Good plan Mr Bridge. As i understand it if you have component parts of different guns you would require a RDF ticket. Plod may get very stropy if you did not ask. Spara Dritto
I like to keep my over under spotless at all times. I've always been this way, after every shoot, be it 3 x a week it will be scrubbed greased and oiled, I think if I didn't pay as much or it was second hand I wouldn't put as much effort into it. poontang
You've got to be one lazy booger to pay someone to clean your gun. It only takes a few minutes. Good luck fella, but I can't really see it catching on.
CZ550Kevlar
I own a Hatsan Semi, i only planned on having it 3 years then i`ll replace it with another to get the warranty back.
Brad93
Bit like washing cars tbh with you mate - gotta do a he'll of a lot to break even I reckon. Also at a clay shoot/game shoot is someone really gonna hand of their gun to a complete stranger even if they had a certificate etc. I doubt it. And as said guns don't take that long to clean, and on a high quality shoot loaders will clean the guns usually.

Surely cleaning the guns is the valets job! The big estates often have gun rooms where clients guns are cleaned before and after shoots. As part of the service not sure how many people would pay for it separately as part of a "service" for the gun but most seem to shoot them till they break then get them fixed
