Azzurri
Ian,when you've been around the block a few times and seen this sport of ours gradually slide backwards under succsessive chairman over the years you may feel like a lot of the members do. No trade stands,no sponsors,no prize money,no atmosphere.... It was just another sunday shoot, only more expensive. Things have been this way for long enough now and i think unless the cpsa get their harris' into gear the best days of clayshooting in this country are sadly behind us. To answer your question,no i didn't bother to speak to the CEO as he's only been involved in clay shooting for a few months so perhaps not qualified to answer questions on the subject just yet. paulos
Ian, the CPSA set the prices. How come the same ground could host the EO and BO All Round this year and it still be worthwhile at £35 comp?

Salopian
First of all I have to say I object most strongly to what Azzurri said, as I do not feel that I am solely responsible for the malaise that is spreading through Sportingclays. Azzurri said ' unless the cpsa get their harris' into gear the best days of clayshooting in this country are sadly behind us.'My CPSA number is 82103 and I can assure (Azzurri?) you it is not all my fault. The following quote is ridiculous 'i didn't bother to speak to the CEO as he's only been involved in clay shooting for a few months so perhaps not qualified to answer questions on the subject just yet.' Why not? I bet you would ask your Doctor to cure your ailment if he had only been in the job a few hours! If I was in any job I would have got up to speed before I started on my first day and improved from then onwards, this guy couldn't even present the prizes correctly at the CLA even though the prizewinners had their names on their skeet vests! Here is the Official CPSA CEO test:- 'these are three names try and remember them, you have one hour starting NOW' "EErr Doh THAT'S hard" Edited August 4, 2011 by Salopian
Catamong
First of all I have to say I object most strongly to what Azzurri said, as I do not feel that I am solely responsible for the malaise that is spreading through Sportingclays. this guy couldn't even present the prizes correctly at the CLA even though the prizewinners had their names on their skeet vests! Did he say that, how have you been singled out..?? Also, most competition winners remove their vests before the prizegiving, it would be very unusual for them all still to be wearing their vests. Don't forget that this guy has no experience of clay shooting, a very odd choice for a CEO perhaps, but let's give him a year to see how he gets on, you never know, he might make some changes for the better, but with zero knowledge of the subject, I doubt it.. It's a pretty damning indictment of our sport that absolutely nobody with any shooting pedigree went for the job, how sad, 'cos I know of several suitably qualified individuals that could have really made a difference. Azzurri
Firstly i must give my sincere apologies to Harris' everywhere, but i make no apologies for my 'ridiculous' quote. Our new CEO has not been involved in clayshooting before, sure he may have some good business credentials and he's probably had success in his previous employment. For me this is not enouh to take 'our' sport forewards. How can he lead from the front with limited knowledge ? He can't.
dr. lecter
i suppose the cpsa act in our best interest, but im not impressed by what they do , membership is over priced , they were not vocal enough in the on going lead debate . they have a massive wage and exspences costs , "we pay the bill" . not happy member . I feel the same way Azzuri , if a plumber couldn`t fix it what chance has he got? Catamong is on the money as usual, why on earth didn`t this post attract high calibre candidates with shooting backgrounds? Unfortunately the CPSA needs such a ground up re-build that it`s almost easier to knock it down and start again.
