barney 66
This is the one thats avoided me for a couple of weeks now,had the lamp on him a few times now, wouldnt call in a couple of times, but previous to that when he was in range i didn't think the shot was safe due to a field with prize cattle in it. Monday i went early about 6.30pm and heard him come up the side of some barley as he popped out he ran up the side straight towards the chicken pen,i needed the shotty that night, saw him again about 11.30 out of range again and the shot wouldn't have been safe, not to me anyway. Last night i decided to give it one more try before the weekend, armed with shotty and .222 i put cat food out at the end of the barley strip where he came out the previous night.and some half way up the edge of a field about 120yds away,i know this because i zeroed the night before, about 9.15pm he came down the edge of the feild and was sniffing near the liquid cat foodhe went back a couple of times then the next time he came into view i let him have it 50gr V max dropped like a stone just over 100yds with the .222, so my persistance and patients paid off, well chuffed. Thanks for looking barney

Frenchieboy
Your pateince cetrainly paid off mate, some might not realise how much patience you have to ise when out foxing! They think it is just 2spot the fox and drop it there and then. It takes a lot of restraint to decide not to take a shot when it is there for the taking! Many is the time when I have had old charlie square in my cross hairs but have had to keep the safety catch on. Well done on waiting for the safe shot opportunity and good shooting! That fox looks in very good condition judging by it's coat!
