Rifle choice for a lefty

I'm awaiting the arrival of my FAC. :D

The FEO has agreed to my having .17, .22lr, 22-250 and .243 so, pending that being signed off by the powers that be, I'll be in the market for some new toys.

I'm used to using right handed or ambi carbines, so the bolt location does not cause me issues, however the location of the safety does. :hmm:

Looking at the second hand market, there are very few true left handers to be had so....

I'm looking for info on rifles with the safety on the backstrap a la shotgun or more or less central behind the bolt so that it is easy to operate for a lefty.

Any and all ideas welcome.

HI Mate

The CZ452 have the safety on the back of the bolt so that takes care of the .17 and .22. Excelent little rifles. My RWS Titan 6 in .243 had a shotgun type safety. Mine had a synthetic stock which was awful but the wooden stocks were ok. Other than that it was an ok rifle but nothing special. I know some of the Mausers have the safety on the back of the bolt too.

These are the ones I know of. Others will be along with other options very soon I am sure.

Look for left handed rifles, you will have more luck than trying to find a safety that works for you, and the cart won't come out across your face either!

CZ etc, do rimfires, and Tikka etc do cf, left handed, there is choice out there, and decent rifles too!

Thanks for the comment guys.

I don't have a problem with right handed bolts or right handed eject, I'm used to both of those on the HK 53 I used to use and the right eject on slp's and the HK G36 - it was always the guy next to me who suffered the hot brass down the shirt!!

Keep the ideas coming though!
