the enigma
I was listening to Talkbalk on Radio Ulster earlier,a pretty one sided debate, but we've all come to expect that from the BBC when it comes to rural matters. At times like these it does feel like the thin end of the wedge.
Richie10
like that will stop them, doesn't when they are on the mainland Doesn't stop you with your pointer either! Ticking the boxes one by one, hunting with dogs, done...Driven game shooting next.... The old meets with the mixed memberships and sexes and not just people that could afford the day, made for interesting, pleasant sporting experience, alot of you guys will never experience. Also it was alot quieter, no blasting guns or people shouting.
monkeyboots
countryside alliance website gives a better detail of it , its only orgazined coursing thats banned so if your on your own with a dog on permission you can still course hares, Lyall Plant, CAI Chief Executive, commented, “It is only organised events that are prohibited. It is still legal for responsible country sports enthusiasts to course individually. All the Act has succeeded in doing is to reduce the extensive conservation effort that was undertaken by coursing clubs in Northern Ireland.” Edited August 17, 2011 by monkeyboots
m3vert
I'm not a fan of Hare Coursing to be honest. Some of the organised events are pathetic with the Hare having NO escape routes, thats shooting fish in a barrel and not acceptable in my book. Cant say I will lose sleep over this one being banned especially if it is only the organised events. Just my opinion though
Magwitch
like that will stop them, doesn't when they are on the mainland Your seem very anti dogs (running dogs that is), what are your views on hare drives? should these be banned? hundreds of hares shot and wounded. Coursing when done properly was and always will be the sport of Kings in my opinion.
BenBhoy
i've been to a number of organise meets, including waterloo cup, and at all times the hare has an escape route. the dogs merely get points for the chase, the turns they force the hare to make. I've yet to see a hare only wounded on a hare drive and I've done a fair few over the years.

BenBhoy
i've never done a hare drive but i have experience coursing and i'd imagine there more chance of a hare being wounded on a driven shoot than when it's coursed, it's either caught or it isn't. simple.
