BerettaSV10
I have been looking at the HW100 KS. Then I noticed that there appears to be several varients of the HW100 one being a thumb hole stock. How many varients are there and what are the differences? durbsguy
The letters after all have significance as to what the gun is HW: Hans Weihrauch an ex CEO 100: Model K: Carbine S: Sporter stock T: Thumb hole stock FSB: Fully shrouded Barrel The HW100 range is HW100S HW100T HW100KS HW100KT HW100FSB S HW100FSB K
BerettaSV10
Thanks for the info and fast reply. Whats the difference between the 100 s and the 100 KS ie what is the their definition of carbine against non carbine?
durbsguy
The carbine is just a shorter barrel, as one of the disadvantages of carbines is that they due to the shorter barrel the pellets velocity is lower. So to extract the same power more air is used and thus the charges are more frequent. The accuracy issue can be an issue with some airgun manufacturers but HW have nailed it. On the upside the carbine is lighter and easier to use for hunting. I hope this makes sense.
BerettaSV10
Makes good sense, and has helped a lot. If I read it right for bunnies the K version would be the best type to get. As I would want to use it for both target and bunnies would the KS or the KT be the best option, as I have never used a thumb hole stock before? hypoboy
As I would want to use it for both target and bunnies would the KS or the KT be the best option, as I have never used a thumb hole stock before? The thumbhole is supposedly nicer to hold and shoot, but I couldn't stand the looks of it and bought the KS instead The thumbhole also seems to me to sell for slightly less secondhand - handy if you're buying, but not so good if you're selling on. Andy75
Don't forget the HW101 range either - basically the same gun but single shot and thus cheaper.
chandler
I really find the thumbhole stock a bit ugly and no better to hold than my .22 sporter, which I love
Beardo
i prefer the sporter, it sits in the hands better

Got to ask now what may sound a dumb question, if the HW 101 varients are single shot can the HW100 shoot as single shot ie with no mag? hypoboy
I wasn't over-keen on either stock, so replaced with Ginb version Nice stock Andy. Any chance of a bigger pic? I've heard Ginbs are normally quite heavy. How does it compare with the original weight wise?
Andy75
It's even heavier. Complete pain in the bum. So only use it for ambushing from a hide and paper punching now! links for you : http://gallery.warp-core.com/albums/uoloads/DSC01770-small.JPG http://gallery.warp-core.com/albums/uoloads/DSC01771-small.JPG http://gallery.warp-core.com/albums/uoloads/DSC01772-small.JPG http://gallery.warp-core.com/albums/uoloads/DSC01773-small.JPG Please excuse the dog hair

Andy75
They are pretty much all the same price wherever you go fella - maybe ask on the Airgun Forum, or keep looking at fleabay.
toxo
No-one mentioned that the T stock is ambidexterous which might make a difference if the wife was left handed or vice versa. I have the sporter stock and just bought a T stock because I'm left eye dominant. At some point I'll change it over to find out if it makes a difference shooting left handed.
