motty
I'm just interested to know roughly how many thousand pigeons are shot by individual pw members each year. I know there are a good number of people on here that shoot good numbers of birds on a regular basis. I have just recently gone past the 2000 mark again and i tend to shoot 2-2500 pigeons per year. My pigeon shooting will calm down a bit now as the wildfowling season is about to start. Over to you lads...
proTOM1
The last few years ive been around the 3500 mark before that i was around the 4000 mark ,im close to 3000 so far this year myself but so far this year my clients have shot over 5000 which is a bit down on last year but have cut down on taking guys out. I consider 200 to be a red letter day. Edited August 26, 2011 by motty

M ROBSON
I shoot very few myself, but it's been a bumper year so far for my clients, over the 95 days of spring/summer that I took bookings this year, it looks like we will hit the 10,000 mark. Cheers, Mark

M ROBSON
Motty, When dealing with clients I've stopped using birds shot as an indicator of a good day and count the shots fired instead. I get a good few guys in the year that fire 300 shots for 50 or so birds, I know plenty of guys that would shoot 200+ birds for that. I've always said that the aim of my services are not just to provide 100's of shot birds, you simply can't do it. It's nice when big bags happen but if someone fires 100 shots in a day I believe I've done my job. I would rather 4 guys shoot 50 than 1 guy shoot 200. In the past I've had guys phone up to get moved off a field where they could quite easily shoot 50 birds in the day because they are only after 100+, thats not my thing. Cheers, Mark. That's quite odd really. Given the hit and miss nature of decoying, i would have thought any paying guest would be happy to shoot 50 birds. M ROBSON
Don't get me wrong, the vast majority are. But when your dealing with lots of different shooters from all over the world some have got their own ideas of what pigeon shooting should be like, you get all types. I believe the fact that people are paying for it also has an affect. I'm in the situation now that the majority of my clients are repeat guests year after year so they get to know the score, and I get to know them too. Cheers, Mark. AS we shoot the pigeons for crop protection I dont think our farmers would be too chuffed if We said "ok I have the three I need for tea so I am off now " Yup shooting on stubble DEFINATLY complies with the general licence. In fact surely shooting pigeons on stubble will just push the birds onto standing crops?? (and yes I am a shooter, just a bit different to some  )
