ragged99
Hi From Mr and Mrs Newbie Shooter.... we're Adrian and Kate from Peterborough...just awaiting our FEO visit and hopefully SGCs :-) Why the reference to playing the long Game? Well 15 years ago I first wanted to try my hand at Clay shooting. With two kids <5 years old in the house Katie wasn't at all happy to have guns around. Ho hum... that was that, for a while at least anyway.... but the enthusaism still burned. Now those kids are grown, and a family tryout session at a clay ground in the Scottish Borders on a recent holiday confirmed for me that I still fancied it every bit as much. Better still Katie smoked the first two and her very big grin showed me that there was a new hope. So striking while the iron was hot, I arranged a couple of lessons when we got home, with Dave Shipman at Whittlesey Who's a top bloke BTW. Last week she hit 13 of the first 15 going away birds.... and that grin was showing again. Anyway... Dave is now holding a Beretta 686e M/C for me and Browning 535 20g adjustable for her pending our SGCs. We're fully paid up members of Black Swan Clay Club in Yaxley... and just waiting for our FEO to get back from holidays for the visit. We can't wait, and neither can our now 20 year old son who is also getting certificated. Unfortunately he keeps getting beaten by his mum :-) So sometimes it pays to play the long long game :-). Cheers Adrian (Ragged99)

ragged99
Welcome! it is addictive and ...gets expensive but what the hey its great fun! enjoy! Well for the last 10 years my hobby has been motor racing.... I've sadly come to the conclusion that, that is becoming unaffordable for an average chap... so I'm looking for a new challenge. Anything remotely concerned with motorsport is eyes wateringly expensive.... so I'm expecting clay shooting to miles cheaper. Thanks for the welcome folks. cant hit rabbits 123
Welcome to the watch chap. Hope you and your wife enjoy shooting as much as the rest of us Pigeon Watchers! Be warned, If you fit a three gun cabbinet, you will be trying to squeeze 4 guns into it within 6 months!

ragged99
Hi Folks, With regard to 3 gun cabs. My Sister has experience in this area, and has simply recommended that I get the biggest one I can fit in. She's of he opinion I'll be rifle/target shooting very soon then vermin control in no time. So a 5/7 gun deep RL7+ is on the cards I think. Cheers for the welcome.... as soon as the certificates arrive I expect you'll be seeing us at the Fenland Gun club or High HArthay. Interestingly my wife is still a very self conscious shooter despite enjoying it immensely. So she'll be the one looking nervous but with a big grin.
