melville
My CZ .17 currently has an SAK moderator. It is not extremely loud but does make a health crack. Can anybody tell me if it is worth spending over £100 on an other make. Would a more expensive model greatly reduce the noise of the rifle. Any information would be welcome. eccles
Use a sax on mine dont worry about the crack mate does not bother them.Shot 9 straight 1 after the other before rest took off.If the rabbits have not seen you they cant make out where the shot is coming from.Maybe other mods quieter but im a tight ***
Amexian
Shoot it with the mod off and then with it on. You'll see that the SAK makes a huge difference in terms of overall sound reduction, you may shave off another few db but you'll spend money doing it and at the end of the day (or at dawn) it has little or no effect on the bunnies. Dekers
This goes round and round, search the history for loads of info, but this may help... http://www.shootinguk.co.uk/guns/rifles/381445/17HMR_calibre_sound_moderators_review_.html ....but remember, time moves on and advertisers bias in magazines! As I always say, if anyone ever finds a good mod for a HMR/WMR can you let me know please, because I haven't!

Mark-70
Is it the muzzle noise Your hoping to improve upon or the crack caused by the speed of the bullet?
Colster
SAK for me, shot a rabbit a while back that came out in front of me no more than about 20yards while I was walking up to my chosen lay up spot... quite surprised how quiet it was when you take the supersonic crack of the bullet out of the equation. Yes you can spend more and acheive a slightly quieter muzzle report but that bullet whizzing down field at supersonic speed makes most of the noise anyway and no moderator can do anything about that.
