deadeye ive
Was out yesterday with the FAC Airgun and took the opportunity to do abit more zeroing with the .223 Now I happen to have a anonometer which also takes the temperature as well as measures wind speed My question is as follows ........What effect will wind have on a .223 at 100 yds ? Here is some required data for the ballistic program unless any one as personal experience Area (sea level).....Uttoxeter ,Staffs Temp 18 Celsius Wind ........Left to right 5 M/S Bullet ......,,.223 50g hollow point ,American Eagle by federal Distance 100 yds Rifle ....Tikka M595 Ok away you go fellas I'll reveal the actual in the field results later

Frank
About that yeah. I got a 1 & a 1/2 inch group at 200yds and it went 1& 1/2 inches to the right with a 20mph wind from left to right last week, using the same ammo, but in my CZ. Devilishdave
at a guess 1/10th of an inch per MPH
henry d
3/4" is my estimate as 5m/s is close to 11-12 mph I hope the wind was exactly 90" to your shooting line as that also affects it, ie. if it was slightly at an angle the drift would be less. Axe
That chart looks familiar Stuart. Ive, Federal Cartridge do an interactive ballistics program which I have found very useful. The only draw back is that it only offers the rounds that FC supply. But you can change your zero, altitude and wind speed etc to get a good idea.
