A successful nights lamping

Had a look out with a mate last night on a couple of new permissions. We were told to clear the hares off the fields as there are too many and they are hammering the new shoots. Onto the first farm my mate was lamping and I was shooting, lamp on and the farmer wasn’t joking there were hares everywhere. I shot 5 within a couple of minutes after retrieving and gutting them we moved onto the next field. Again lamp on and we counted 7 hares spread about around the field. Another 4 shots and 4 hares down, after retrieving and gutting those we decided to move onto the next farm.

Once we drove onto the next farm we put the lamp on and again quite a few hares were present. I shot 3 more before we headed to the other end of the farm onto a freshly cut silage field which was 170 acres so pretty big. After a quick drive round the perimeter there were hares everywhere and no rabbits at all. I shot a further 12 hares off this field but saw a minimum of 35+ never seen hares before in this number ever.

Back onto an older permission in the same area we drove around some stubble fields and shot 22 rabbits. All this in between showers and a full moon so a good result was had finishing the night with 24 hares and 22 rabbits.
