See if it's what it's cracked up to be. I'll get few pics up later if anyone is interested? :) Bazza.

Cosd
Brother in law cancelled his order on one after test driving it. The diesel engine at 2.2 just doesn't allow the car to drive like a "Range Rover", said it feels like driving any car if that makes sense. And that was the most powerful diesel in the range. Also the ride height is gone so again, you lose that RR feel. He ended up ordering another RR Sport for his missus. Pretty looking car though, and if mpg is a factor then it's a winner I suppose. Not all the range is 4WD either, so I think this really is aimed at the Chelsea crew.

It doesn't feel like a Range Rover, it doesn't drive like a Range Rover, it drives like a Toyota CRV or similar, nice enough but not distinctive. As for the looks, not for me thanks. If I wanted a chavved up RR I'd get an ex footballers Sport! Edited September 19, 2011 by -Mongrel-
Gnome of the Woods
I saw one on the road the other day, looks like someone has sat on a Freelander! Looks much better in pics than real life!
Kes
They had one on display at the Midland - getting a lot of interest. I wouldnt buy one on priciple as Mrs Beckham has a hand in the design and I feel she's not exactly compatible with the worlds best road/off roader. Its a glam mobile not a RR but hey life's about enjoyment, if you like it........
bazzab
Well I say what a blooming lovely motor. The interior is lovely. Was the prestige model so was fully loaded. Had full length glass roof. Digital tv in dash and rear screens. Passenger watches tele whilst driver sees sat nav etc on same screen. Incredible. And has got park assist which is freaky but mind blowing. There are cameras everywhere run the outside which make up amazing view on monitor. Think I prefer the vogue type but still a lovely motor. Took some pics. They are off my phone though so excuse quality!!! My favourite bit of car. And as mentioned above the Gotham city puddle lights. An amazing touch. Can just make out picture. Lot more obvious in the flesh.

Anyway, I'm pleased all the toys and gadgets kept you happy. I should add that it was a 2 door that I drove, the other thing that struck me was how little room in the back there was. And had some good reviews. Let's be honest though gonna be carrying school kids more than going off road  I'll stick to me Jimny!!! AlistairB
I had a quick look at one last weekend - it's tiny and the windows look like gun slots in an old pillbox. Not for me i'm afraid!
Tim Kelly
I expect the reason it's been made, and especially the 2WD model, is that there was a ruling that all car manufacturers had to produce a certain percentage of cars with better than a given fuel economy figure. The 2WD evoque is probably economical enough to fill Land Rover's quota, and will sell well enough to the posh town family crowd. I think Jeep have introduced small 2WD models recently as well, probably for the same reason. Look out for the Ferrari city car..

NickP
i have done the honours and popped into my dealer to have a look at one. Sat in all the seats in the 5 door model, the back is very spacious for something that looks quite small, moved back round to the drivers and hopped back in adjusted the seat and rear view mirrors to get my driving position, thats when i noticed the rear window been so small, it felt like i had a half loaded boot in my freelander, the windows was small and high up off the ground. I would defiantly have to have a reversing camera for seeing out the back. After seeing it in white, I had a look at the black one, which really really looked nice, all black with gloss black wheels and looked very aggressive and mean :yp: Towing capability is 1800kg, compared to my FL2's 2000kg and the talk of a new heavier twin axle caravan might be a sticking point for a purchase

Do see what ya saying though mate. Not trying to start an argument mate but I seriously doubt its amazing off road. The defender is amazing off road and yes I know its got more than its fair share of faults otherwise. Just bothers me that LR are losing their way a bit, I mean Victoria Beckham
NickP
Apparently they are not too bad off road, a chap I know had his off the day after buying it http://babyrr.com/forum/Thread-What-did-you-do-in-your-Evoque-today?highlight=

Just bothers me that LR are losing their way a bit, I mean Victoria Beckham No argument here buddy. There are pretty good though mate. Not the best but then there not really designed to be serious off roader. The defender is a out and out off roader so they different cars. The new discovery is out of this world off road, out performs most about at min. And I dare say prob out perform the defender. But again they different motors. The defender won't see in peace and luxury on motorway. Do agree though the company changing but they have to I guess or they soon be gone I bet. Just nice an English marque still going. (all be it owned by foreigners now!!!) :) Bazza.

Tim Kelly
Just seem my first Evoque! It was being loaded onto the back of a recovery vehicle. No doubt about it now, it's a genuine Land Rover vehicle!
Hamster
People are confusing things a little maybe, these aren`t going to be bought by people who hope to do the odd bit of lamping and feretting at the weekend. This isn`t meant to go off road as well as a Defender, it isn`t meant to be like a real Range Rover on road either. It is built to fill a gap in Land Rover`s range, that of a sleek, stunning car to compete with the X3, Q5, Rav4, CRV etc etc, it will do that very nicely because it`s got the MPG figures and you cannot argue with the gorgeous Chelsea looks. You could argue the present Freelander2 did that but you`d be wrong as it was not attracting the customers from outside the marque, the Evoque is set to change that.
