taximan
Hi All, I have a .410 Belgium Under & Over Hammergun, and I was wondering if anyone has any info on it or alternativly has anyone got one or has anybody used one of these guns before. This gun originally came from a well known Dorset Gamekeeper and has accounted for thousands of rats in its time Any information would be gratefully received Edited September 20, 2011 by taximan

Fisherman Mike
My grandfather had one very similar about 30 years ago it was indeed Belgian.. His was actually shorter in the barrel and a little bit longer wood in the forend Apart from that almost identical.. Must be a joy to use though..a couple of Pigeons with that would be as satisfying as 50 with a Semi Auto wouldnt it ? very similar to this which is I think a 28G His was bought in Austria Edited September 20, 2011 by Fisherman Mike
Bleeh
I seem to remember having a chat with someone about these. He said that apart from bad pitting in the barrels another common issue is that the barrel would be twisted around each other, giving a two completely different shot patterns when fired at a shot test target. String up some paper and see how close they hit, if they are lining up I think you are onto a winner.
Lord Geordie
pitting i believe.was down to the powder used in the 410 carts of the time it left a bad acid like residue behind. the gun is beautiful and i personally would hang on to it and lavish it with a full strip and re finish both on the stock and metal work right down to the trigger blades and hammers.... Lord Geordie
i would get that crack in the stock seen to now too it will only get worse over time and is worth saving....
browning123
A very unusual .410 - but nice! I've never seen one before and I've had a few guns in my time!

I had no idea they made them in other calibers, and thanks to eveyone for the kind comments. I used to work for the guns previous owner so it has huge sentimental value. Anymore comments or info most welcome Edited September 21, 2011 by taximan
Redditch
People used to call them Belgian Gas Pipes LOL, but for the price they were generally quite good quality, and I´ve seen a lot of the old Belgian guns that were still working 50 years after being made.
