Hi

I been lucky enough to find a Devon farm cottage where I can shoot pigeons whilst on a weeks break. Problem is storing the gun for a week with no safe. I use a triggers lock but not sure how I stand legally.

Any info or advice is most welcome

Cheers

I had a similar situation about 7-8 years ago and rang my FO to ask his advice.

He said that as long as it was for a short time, the gun was stored in three pieces (he knew it was an O/U)and in seperate rooms in the accommodation, it would be OK.

He did have to ring me back, so I got the impression its not something they are asked very often.

It might be worth giving your FO a ring.

Sounds like a nice holiday setup, all you need now is a nice trout stream.

  • 2 weeks later...

Thanks for the advice and I will speak to the FAO The cottage has 2 fishing lakes and a small river which is a tributary off the river Taw and has a salmon ladder but not seen any salmon. Oh yes a pub nearby PS I am allow to shoot as a family friend therefore is not open to all but is a great stay and the cottages go quite cheap on Ebay. Follow this link. :yp: :/:lol:

Hows about a bike lock, the plastic coated wire cable type pushed down the barrels?

Just an idea.

This is the idea I use i have a wire bike lock and a pair of eyelets anchored to the floor of the car in the boot. Makes a good makeshift security set up

Also you can buy a break down cabinet and have THAT fitted into the boot of your car also

That way ANYWHERE you go you will have adequate security
